    As evidenced by what though?

I think the metrics for success people are using are wild. I think a ton of people have failed to grasp what "flatten the curve" actually implies.

Every state flattened the curve, with the arguable exception of NY. So what are we even talking about with the beaches thing?

Docking Florida points because some college kids got the virus in March instead of August is crazy to me IMO.

Everybody does realize that ALL virus outbreaks will have a “flattened curve” whether isolation measures were implemented or not- right? Been happening since the beginning of mankind.

Yes. But a nation that actually tries to fight the virus will flatten the curve at a faster, controlled rate.

Yes, all curves involving sickness will flatten... when everyone eventually dies.

    Such a flawed statement.

Be nice to actually flatten the curve, for starters.

    just no.

first, not everybody dies who is infected.

Second, this isn’t the first virus to ever challenge man. And our species continues to survive without mass isolation.

Third, we rely on technology to immunize the masses and save those that would succumb if they were exposed without immunity. We are “buying time” with isolation measures to save the higher risk populations who do not (for whatever reason) utilize isolation measures themselves.

Fourth, research the difference between incidence and prevalence in regards to epidemiology. It will give you a more clear understanding of how much spin is occurring in the “statistics” that are being thrown around.

fifth, nobody ever suggested not “fighting” the virus.

My biggest point in this is that these isolation measures have restricted constitutional rights of nearly everyone to debatably save a smaller at risk segment. And that is objectionable to me because if those at risk people utilize isolation measures, they’d be protected. Those that can’t comply should be taken care of by their family or support network, NOT the govt.

Though I understand government reaction is a big factor for this topic, do remember that anything political is not allowed in this forum. Posts will be deleted and the poster banned from the thread for a week.

Christ, it’s actually working. We are normalizing mass death for the service economy.

By the end of May we could be looking at the death equivalent of a 9/11 every single day but we just have to let it play out because if wine moms and boat dads can’t go eat a fried onion at Texas Road House every Friday night the economy is going to collapse.

    “Muh rights!”

What about the right to not have to bury my grandparents prematurely because of an incompetent government protecting a broken economic system that can only continue to function if we accept mass death as we all waddle back out to Dillard’s and Chick-fil-A.

How about you get off your azz and protect your grandparents if you care that much? Let them live with you in isolation. They’ll surely be OK if you insure it.

You do realize that people die everyday? You do realize that according to the CDC- 80,000 people died in the US last year attributable to the flu? Where was your outrage then? That’s nearly twice as many as died in the entire Vietnam war (haha).

You have SO bought into the panic hype. Step back- take a breath. Think big picture. I’m not being a smart azz- I just am fed up with the spin and hype regarding virus and pandemic.

We are charting unprecedented infringement of the first amendment over an issue that has been grossly misrepresented. And we don’t even know what the health consequences we’ll attribute to the social isolation. I guarantee we see a spike in anxiety/depression, addiction due to fear of disease and loss of financial livelihood.

I think you overestimate this imaginary “need” to go to restaurants and get haircuts.
It’s about going to work and earning a wage and in some cases, saving their livelihood hood because they’re business owners.
The potential (I stress potential) deaths from COVID are extremely minute to the millions of people (or 10’s of millions)that may no longer be able to care for themselves/put in bankruptcy over those “potential” deaths.

As seen, the amount of deaths actually attributed to COVID I saw constantly being changed based on the false reporting.

The virus doesn't care about your constitutional rights. This is not the time to be whining about them being violated. See, I value my life and those of my family and friends infinitely more than going to my favourite restaurant or getting a haircut. You may not.

Social distancing works-and that's why we now have an R-0 number below 1 in Britain.
