    Some, not most.

The argument isn’t about how Henry spends his money because we don’t know what his bank account looks like. The argument is that Carp thinks $3 million isn’t a lot of money in today’s economy. That’s stupid.

Isn’t his also about how much additional money he can get while available?
$3 million is tons, but risking a season sitting out when $10’s of millions are out there seems like a bad idea regardless how comfortable he might be with the $3 mil.

I think we all do it in his situation too. I’ll throw the leap of faith that everyone here works hard at their job for the opportunity to make more money, I see no difference in his position.

No his argument was that Henry couldn’t afford to sit out because “he’s only made $5 million in his career”.

An absolutely silly argument to make. Plus history shows us Henry will sign a big deal one way or another.

Cmon man. They don't go broke from buying groceries and driving their 2015 Altima.

You could put 5 million in a savings account and live off the interest quite easily. If you invested wisely, you could live like a rich person and still never work again.

3 million is not as much as you think it is. If you by a 300k house, you've already spent 10% of your wealth. There is a reason roughly half of NFL players go broke by the time they are 50, and it's not all because they live extravagant lifestyles. Most NFL players will never see more than 5 million dollars in their playing career.

He absolutely does not have the leverage to hold out for a year and risk personal injury or a potential 2021 work stoppage. Most players sign their 1st franchise tag anyways regardless what round they were picked in, because they don't have much leverage to begin with. But for non-1st round picks, that leverage is even lower, because they make less than half of what 1st round picks generally make.

The point isn't whether you can "live" off roughly 3 million (the rough amount after taxes) if invested wisely. But certainly you could not "live like a rich person on interest alone". There are plenty of rich people that have trouble maintaining their standard of living during retirement, even with 3 million in net worth. "Living" and maintaining your lifestyle are 2 completely separate things.

The point is we're talking about a difference of roughly 3 million compared to roughly 12-15 million (or whatever the franchise tag is for RBs in 2020) and what leverage he has to hold out for a long term deal. 3 million over 4 years is simply not that much in the scale of NFL players.
