Ekeler isn't a bad comparison at all. He was on pace for 1,960 total yards and 24 TD's before Melvin Gordon came back.

But almost primarily a WR. His receiving stats are almost 2:1 over rushing. Hes more like a much better looking Mccluster.
If he was given the ball for a full season, maybe he can prove he’s a good runner too but 500 yards over 16 games (8 as starter) is hardly the same as DJ.

All that said, ekeler definitely has some good value but may need the right system. Not sure a guy like that would work here for ex.

490 total yards when there was no Melvin Gordon. 220 were on the ground 260 receiving. It’s not even close to 2:1 when you look at his stats without Gordon.

Of course his stats are skewed when Gordon came back because his usage went down. Gordon primarily got all the carries.

Fair enough, if he was the featured back, it looks like he would have pace for around 925 rushing. That’d put him around 1800-1900 total yards. I’ll agree he could have got close to 20 total TD too.
I retract my previous statement regarding the comparison.

That said, if Ekeler had a full season, with those numbers, he be justified in pushing for a very large contract when time. He also doesn’t need a stacked box but like some of the other receiving backs, you could actually get burned more often for stacking the box.
So to my original piece I disagreed with, having to stack the box is not a stand alone point for an overrated back or not.

I'll never get the overvalue of pure rushing backs here. Give me a CMC, Kamara, Ekeler type all day long.

For the Titans, Henry is what we need. if we were the saints with pass happy brees, a Kamari or CMC makes sense.

The guy led the league in rushing missing 2.5 games....and ran for 180+ 3 times straight on the road in the playoffs. Idgaf what style anyone talks about, thats worth holding onto.

Yea and if the piece doesn’t fit, the puzzle doesn’t work.
CMC and Kamara are awesome, they wouldn’t be nearly as successful in Tennessee just as Henry probably wouldn’t be as successful in NO.

Not saying who’s better because the offense they are in is either built around them or at least where the style fits to maximize their talent.
(Not so much response to you but to the other post I commented on)
