    I'm always surprised at how Butler is received here.

    The defense clearly fell off and we lost tons of versatility when we lost him. Pass rush fell off, we largely stopped blitzing, we ran more safe zone stuff, etc, etc, etc. We went from this aggressive defense to bend but don't break and hope they make mistakes.

    Personal opinion but DH and Tanny need to be resigned even if we pay slightly more than we’d like. We have the cap space. They have given us an identity for the first time in a while and put us back on the map. Ideally 3 year deals for both with outs after 2 years in case things change (as they quickly do in the nfl). Tanny didn’t do much in the playoffs I admit but still made big plays & he got us there with a sensational turn around. If we quibble over a couple of million and lose them causing us to relapse back into obscurity I’ll be gutted. I’m not ready for a rebuild. This team is set up to win ball games with an improved pass rush.

    Didn’t get a single interception while he was on the IR! What gives!?

    Seriously though, he played better than Xavier Rhodes, Xavian Howard, Trumaine Johnson and AJ Bouye who all got paid more than him.

    Butler and Adoree are a top flight combo in there. Would be hard to replace either of them.

    So we eat some dead money, then overpay some lower profile cornerback?

    Rookies seem to be hit or miss. Street free agents certainly don't seem to be the answer.

    With his style of play and aggression off snap, he's the type who would really strive with a decent pass rush, esp towards the later part of his career.
