Brandon Jennings did that back in like 08’

Was a top 5 HS recruit, skipped college and went to play professionally for a team in Italy, made some money and got drafted top 10 the next year

Because the XFL isn't anything different than talking college football which also goes into this area (and has a lot more influence on the NFL than the XFL ever will).

A few others have with less success, too.

...but this will be the first year where multiple potential top picks did it. And I think that might create some momentum.

Colleges might start paying student athletes with this as competition .

Cool, hope it lasts. It is in everyone's best interest for this to work.

They might do that anyway lol

Or, at least stop prohibiting players from getting sponsors. I believe there are state legislatures working on forcing the NCAA (at least for schools in their state) to lighten up.

The power conferences could also split off and create their own CAA.

It is not power programs who do not want players to get paid. These rules come from the majority of schools that are not big programs.

They might start, but they're still debating it... something like this, competition, might strengthen or force the issue.

The NCAA people already agreed to let students get paid for their likenesses. They just haven't actually decided on the rule yet.
