He knows how Bill operates and showing him that is going to make them think/plan/worry about it at least to some degree that will detract from the actual gameplan at least a little. And he only had to run one play to accomplish that. Even if it's a micro advantage it was well worth it.

 

If I remember correctly, Vrabel called 1 play with Mariota.

That’s absolutely no different than a wildcat formation. We all know Henry is running from that position.
From that perspective, I’d say Mariota taking a snap is more effective because he can still throw (he did) or run.

If it’s just another play do BB to think about, great. Overall, this is much ado about nothing.

I love it. Mariota may be the fastest player on the team. Use his athletic ability. If for nothing else, distraction

Risky but totally worth it. Having them both on the field freezes a safety and opposite side corner. That alone significantly opens the second level for potential game busting runs by Henry. I'm not for running that set up more than 2 or 3 times a game- but damn imagine how it will F up the Pats secondary
