On top of the fact that it’s not the tip that has to cross the plain. It’s any part of the ball, so you’d have to figure a way to have the entire ball reflected in the chip program.

won’t surprise me at all if they have this all worked out within 5 years. Some micro gps “skin” just under the pigskin.

Which is a problem in and of itself.

Consider the angles and the number of cameras available for the 1pm kickoff games. Compare that to the 4pm kickoff games. Then compare both of those to the primetime games.

There's way more tech, presentation, and camera availability the later in the day the game is. Teams that play at 1pm consistently, like the Titans do about 13 times a season, are at a significant disadvantage to a team like the Cowboys, that plays almost weekly at 4pm or in primetime.

    It's absurd.

Yep, true. I bet they could add dozens of chips on the inner wall of the ball that detects each other and the nearest solid surface (the inner wall of the ball), so they could detect when anything within that grid crossed a line. But you would still have a margin of error of whatever the thickness of the wall of the ball is ... but those 100th's of an inch would still be better than human error. :D

The team's scoreboard feed angles also create a disadvantage, because those feeds can be used for replay. So, a state of the art stadium like Cowboys probably has who knows how many cameras mounted or used for the big board ... where as I'm not sure about Tennessee, seems like we get the TV feed on the scoreboard when I'm there.

A perfect example of that is the QB sneak ... I have still only seen ONE camera angle of Tannehill's sneak, and it's from the left sideline. He rushed to the right of the center ... him and the ball would've been in clear view the entire play if we had a camera angle from the right sideline.

Well if that’s true we should sign him to a 10 year deal right now! That’d be a steal.

Philip Rivers faced pressure on a higher percentage of his dropbacks than all but three QBs in Week 7 per PFF (46.2%) despite having the 8th quickest average time in pocket. Landry, Wake, and Jones led the way for the #Titans with 4 pressures each. Simmons was next with 3.

I didn't say in the tips, I said tip to tip to accommodate knowing where any part of the football is.
