This makes no sense to me. Mularkey also did **** with clock management. He drove us crazy challenging unwinnable plays and holding his flag when he should challenge. He only ever did as well with this team as Vrabel has done. And in case you forgot, he did his part in coaching us to that 3-13 season before Robinson came in and brought in guys like Byard, Kelly, Murray, Conklin, and Henry.

Marcus’s problems are his own. I think the injuries early on shook his confidence.

How could anyone expect T-hill to come in and lead the team to the end zone when every first down play is a hand off to Henry up the middle? Hello, did the coaches not spot the 9 guys in the box. We we able to run on this defense thru the first three quarters. So when we are in another 3 ird and a butt load, are we surprised with a jail break from the defense and another sack, interception, or broken up play ? It is like Terry Robiskie all over again.

When we went into the hurry up offense T-hill showed some signs of life. Maybe we should just start there. Maybe try not to be down 16 points before giving up on the running game that is so crucial to our offensive effort. It was offensive alright . . . . . . . .. . . . . .

And the pro bowl? Back when the pro bowl still meant something, we got snubbed and went to the AFC Championship. Not every player a GM brings in is a popularity contest winner. Good players contributing toward a winning effort is what I care about.

I agree with a lot of this. However, I think what it really boiled down to is that Mularkey knew what he wanted to accomplish on offense and was able to communicate what type of players he needed to fit his scheme. To his credit, jrob did that to an extent and Mularkey schemed well enough to mask the flaws of individual players (i.e. Conklin, Mariota). I think Vrabel inexperience is really shown as he hasn't exactly been consistent with what he wants on offense, in part due to Mariota being crap and some of Jrobs moves haven't panned out (i.e lewis, Stafford). Finally, Mularkey had head coaching experience, vrabel wasn't more than a coordinator

The downfall with Mularkey was his own stuburness combined with the NFL adjusting to his offensive scheme that is about 15 years out of date. It's ironic though that Mularkey got more out of this offense than Vrabel has. It's also goes to show that Jrob's biggest misfire might be hiring Vrabel, who is more or less a worse version of Mularkey. I really wish this team had conducted a real head coaching search.

The problem with Vrabel is that we had a decent defense, and a dumpster fire offense. So we hire a defensive coach with no experience, and then hire a very experienced DC.

So now we have 90% of our coaching brainpower on the side of the ball that is good, and the offense is worse than ever. We should have hired an offensive coach, and then pees as dc.

I don't think pees would have come out of retirement for anyone else, but I agree with your logic

Offense is terrible... gotta correct that error asap. If not, then higher level needs to be changed for not addressing this disaster. Enough is enough

Don’t miss Mularkey at all, and I was fine with the firing at the time.

I’m only making the point that 2 years later after a playoff berth and win, JRob got his coach whom he felt could get more out of this team and has had 2 whole other off seasons to build the roster in his vision.

And this is the trash product we are currently seeing on the field.

I just don’t understand how everyone tells the mary fairies that they need to stop thinking Marcus is the same guy from 2016 or the guy for the future just cause he has had seldom flashes of elite play every blue moon.

But Robinson still gets a pass cause he started out hot his first offseason with that draft trade 4 years ago just to not really acquire any star talent or clear consistent playmakers since.

He has gotten a couple picks that look like studs. But everything else including has FA signings have been either awful or average at best.

I also have beef with that fact the when he got hired, that first offseason he went heavy on line play. And he said “he believes in building a team from the inside out” just for all his lineman picks or signings since to either absolute garbage or below average. Conklin, Dodd, Johnson, Kline (guy even got an extension, wtf), Saffold, Levin, Sylvester Williams, etc.
