I can't answer that question for you on what you think you're seeing. However, we can all rationalize it's human nature of people to leave events when the outcome is not turning out to how they envision or hoped to see. Yes, diehard fans stay longer than casual fans and considering you traveled far distances to see a titans game since you do not live in TN, you probably stayed till the very end to get your money's worth. I don't know your motivation.

As for myself, even though we lost in SD I stayed till the very end because I was having a great time sipping beer and soaking in the SoCal sun in the fall. Now if my wife and kids were with me then I probably would have left early regardless of winning or losing because cranky young kids ain't fun at games.

    Nope. Dude has heart.

Ive been expecting and hoping for him to get it every year. This year, I've just given up. Even if he doubles his tds from last year, it's below average.

Hope I'm wrong. Id love to see the guy go mahommes on the league. Love the guy as a leader, as a guy, love his skill set. But hate his production and his fragility.

    Question...why does anyone HATE Mariota?

There are players who played worse than Mariota last year. Let's use Conklin as an example. He played really poorly at times and it badly hurt our offense. He was a shell of himself and should not have been playing. His pass pro was nearly non-existent.

But do I HATE him? NO! I wish we had recognized he wasn't playing up to the level we need him to and had put Kelly in earlier. And given another off-season to heal and strengthen, I HOPE he can get back to playing his best! I haven't given up on him.

But not only do I not hate him and hope for the best with him, I don't insult the people who like him just because THEY like him...even if I didn't.

Where does all this hate come from where people feel they need to bash people who disagree with them? Can't you just disagree without the insults?

Aren't we all rooting for the Titans to win? Or are some people more interested in being 'right?'

So to sum up...you think if a group of fans don't like a player, they should get rid of the player because of that?

Put another way, a minority group of fans of a high school football team don't like a certain player - let's say your son. You think they should kick that player off the team for that?

Can you imagine a GM explaining to the owner...we got rid of this player because a certain group of fans don't like him? Not only would the GM be fired, but they'd never be a GM again. Divisive players? You think NE cared about signing Moss after his off-field stuff. Did AP get another chance after abusing his own kid? Read that book about all the felons in the NFL. They aren't into the popularity game, they are in the winning business (popularity comes after winning). Sure we don't want thugs and those types on this team, but Mariota's intangibles are great and everyone agrees on that. They aren't gonna dump him because people are disappointed in him. They have given him all the pieces this year. He'll do it or he won't (to their satisfaction, not ours).

Lastly, the QB competition doesn't make sense for a number of reasons. First is, Tannehill almost never plays with the 1's and if you had a real compeition (disregarding what people were saying), the actions speak louder than words. From what I've read, outside of a 2min drill, Mariota has done everything with the 1's. Also, you'd have more equal playing time with the 1's in pre-season games. Tannehill doesn't really play with the ones in pre-season so far so that doesn't make sense. Their actions are that Mariota is the starter and Tannehill is the #2. The Titans aren't about being sneaky in these types of things. Vrabel is pretty clear about stuff...even when giving coach speak.

I don't think there is a qb competition per se, but I think Tannehill is here to be a starter level backup so if Mariota gets hurt again, we don't miss out on a playoff spot because we have Gabbert starting a couple of games. That's a this season thing.

The future is that Mariota will or won't earn an extension. If he doesn't, they get to try Tannehill out in our system and see what he'd be like so we can see what we have with him. So if Mariota isn't the answer, we see if Tannehill is or can be a bridge vet.

I think the Titans think they have a win now team and they want to make sure we have high quality depth everywhere so we can take some injuries and not derail the season.

I see you're still complaining about the wrong things.

So let's see...is Derek Carr gonna be great this year because he went 2/2 for 40yards and a TD? Is Eli with his 4/4 and a TD? Is Josh Allen gonna be Maholmes this year because he went 9/11 for OVER 100 yards?

If your answer is yes, I'll sit an enjoy you trying to explain how pre-season stats matter in the regular season. If your answer is NO, then you're making a meaningless argument. Should McNichols start at RB over Derrick Henry because he has better pre-season stats? Unless you think that, then you agree pre-season stats mean nothing. So stop bringing them up unless you think they are important and think our 2nd and 3rd stringers should be starting because they have 'better' stats!

They take notice of Firkser because of last year...when Tannehill wasn't on this team. They take notice of him because of his skills in individual, group and team work. Tannehill is only involved in part of that. YOU take notice of Firkser when Tannehill is throwing him the ball in pre-season. They evaluate the players by what they do and how they have improved, not who's throwing him the ball so much. And Didn't Firkser have to dive on that one Tannehill pass?

So what I hear from you is that all Mariota's throws are off target and bad and all of Tannehill's throws are perfect. The reality is both have missed some throws and both have made some nice throws. Both have made throws they needed the receiver to make a nice catch on and both have had some wr's drop good passes.

What you also fail to take into consideration is that a qb doesn't always want to lead the wr. Sometimes you throw the ball in between a zone and have to throw it where the defenders can't get to it. Maybe you see the receiver late or he's 2nd or 3rd in your progression and when you arrive at him you have to place the ball where he can catch it but leading him is not possible. Or sometimes you're gonna throw a slant but the S is breaking to where you'd throw the ball to lead him so you put it on him or slightly behind so he doesn't get his head taken off. Bill Walsh used to make Montana practice this...lead the wr, put it on him, throw it behind him because in a game you need to be able to do all 3. Most fans don't get that. But your first goal is to get a reception. Your second goal is to give him an opportunity for yac if possible. Of course, qb's also make inaccurate throws in terms of perfect ball placement often too. All QB's do.

Was Mariota's pass to Lewis too high. Yup. Lewis made a nice catch on it. But Tannehill dumping a ball off to a RB and having that rb make big yards was not exactly a great throw. More like a great read. Him reading the blitz and knowing where to go quickly was the excellence of the play.

You have to look at the good and the bad for all the players, not take 2 bad throws and assume that guy isn't accurate while ignoring the bad throws made by the other guy and state he's awesome and accurate. Not credible.

No one actually hates him. Well, outside of perhaps a small handful of posters. "Hater" is just a term given to anyone who doesnt believe he is the answer by the gotitans Mariota fan club. Because it's easier to just call someone a hater than actually debate the facts.

everyone seems to have this crazy high opinion of qbs in the league for some reason.... probably cuz of the outliers like mahomes

FYI, doubling his TDs to 22 would put him in the top half of nfl qbs for TDs for the full season. last year dak prescott was 16th at 22.

i see a lot of people throw around the number 30 as well. only 9 QBs had 30 or more (even brady(29) and rodgers(25))

The fact that he needs to DOUBLE his TDs just to be middle of the pack is not a good defense.

    Yes. He started getting boos.

The difference was- he didn't have a capable backup. Or at least, someone that people thought could do as well or better.

I tell you guys this every time and I'm right every time. You think this dude has it made.... he WILL be benched if he plays like he did last season. This staff's job depends on it. He's going to kill the "contender" window if they don't bench him.

It's like when y'all kept telling me no way they could fire Whisenhunt due to contract and blah blah blah - and I told you he had to change something or they'd eat the money due to loss in gameday funds. This isn't the same- but it is. This team brought in Tannehill for a reason. Think they're not ready to move on from MM? They are.
