I dont care about level of competition and who was in with who. Mariota and Tannehill both essentially played against #2 D with a #2 O around them.

Mariota made a few pretty good throws, but he is playing scared, no confidence. Tannehill always kept his eyes downfield when pressured and stepped up to make the accurate throw. When pressured at all, Mariota either turns his head to look for safety, or throws up a floater.

Had high hopes for Barnes. McNichols looks far better.

Taywan better start attacking that ball with his hands. One more body drop and he will be looking for another job.

I think it will take a really really bad preseason for him to be cut. Wouldn't count on him being gone after just 1 bad outing.

OK....that's it! One preseason game down so....cut Mariota, give Tannehill $100M, and sign the #3 to the backup slot for 5 years.
Geez people! Calm down or just talk to yourself....apparently some of you just like to hear yourselves.

My two big concerns with Mary last night. 1) he missed a wide open pass 2) he was going against the same 2nd/3

These were my thoughts. I had the Philly coverage for the game. Based off the home announcers Philly's D was non-starters all night. The wide open pass that Mary missed due to a poor anticipation throw had me just shaking my head.
Tanny playing against the same D look like a Vet; Mary didn't look like a 5th yr vet playing in an "O" that's most likely tailored for him.
The only thing I'm not sure of due to conversations with the wife is "did both QBs have the same O-line"? Looked like Tanny had a little better protection.

For the record, I'm not a Mary hater (not a fanbloy either.
I'm totally for giving him the year to prove it. I'm just frustrated with things like...our 5th yr starting QB still can't seem to throw receivers open when pressured or even that he needs reps in PS1 (at least the coaches feel he does otherwise with the way coach V is with injury precautions preseason I'd think Mary would have been sitting).

I was at the game yesterday. It’s no question that Tannehill looked better and more comfortable in the pocket. Mary just seems unsure and jumpy. The missed wide open passes drive me absolutely nuts. I hope he proves me wrong, but I’m thinking he will be long gone if that continues. It was so nice to watch Tannehill and Woodside methodically push us downfield. I almost forgot what that felt like...

Given that he was hurt last year, getting him a couple reps was probably the best thing for him.

I see what your saying and not trying to argue. Just disagree about a 5th yr, potential Franchise QB needing reps in PS1...unless he's still a bit of "tingles". Plus, I'm of the mind 5th yr QB has used up their excuses.
