This is some of your worst work yet. We've spent premium capital or picks on the LT, LG, RT, WR, TE, and RB. That's almost every damn position.

You can't boost Mariota's stats because if he were to drop back that number of times, he'd be on IR by week 2.

I don't think either Prescott or Mariota have, to date, earned new deals. If the cowboys pay Prescott, Cooper, and Zeke, they are doomed to mediocrity at best for the forseeable future. Their oline is expensive too.

So we don't currently have the most expensive left side of the O line in the league, a #8 pick at RT, a #5 pick at WR, another $9M WR, a pro bowl TE, a top 10 paid RB, and additional 2nd and 3rd round picks scattered across the offense? I had to watch GB completely ignore the offensive side of the ball in FA and during the entire first 2 days of the draft for half a decade now. I'm tired of the excuses .

Please show me where New England spends "premium money"

For the reading comprehension 'challenged'...this is the quote I was responding to...

"We basically have to spend premium dollars on every position around Mariota to get him to put up mediocre stats."

Does that say dollars or draft capital? NO!!!

Re-read my post as it clearly breaks down which positions we spend premium dollars on...and it's not a lot.

Sometimes you just have to pay guys. That's how it works. NE has had continuity at almost every important position both on the field and in the front office for the last decade. That is HUGE! We've had have browns level turnover ever since fisher left.

You're picking the wrong things to talk about. You add all those pieces either way, with or without Mary. That's just good managing.

We added Lewan and Walker long before Mary. We tried adding a #1 WR before Mary too. You never stop filling in your roster just because your QB is good.

And you named Green Bay as a reason for thinking what you think, but I hate to break it to you but theres a reason Ted Thompson was fired as their GM 2 yrs ago.

As for your Brady example, the Pats are a finely tuned machine. But dont think for 2 seconds they dont push their cap limits. They have no money to throw around and that comes after Brady gives the Gissell Discount to the Pats. Brady is successful because hes A.) Is a HoF QB, B.) has a HOF coach, and C.) Has a good roster

Dont tell me adding these obvious players arent general football moves done by good GMs

I definitely understand where everyone on each side is coming from. I think putting all of the details and bs aside, it comes down to health and consistency. I think we all can agree on that. I feel like it’s a mental/vision thing with him. When he lets it rip and takes shots, he can be great and proven. My biggest concern with Mariota is chemistry to be honest. I’ve watched him here for 4 years now (entering year 5) and outside of Delaney Walker, I’m seeing very little chemistry or elevation of players around him. I don’t believe every single coach, coordinator, etc are putting these guys in position to fail. Be it early or late picks, new free agent faces, etc, it seems like the offense and it’s players are sputtering under him. The fact he has declined the past 2 years is worrisome as well. No matter what side you fall on, we have to figure this offense out. It’s 1 dimensional and just plain ineffective. It needs opened up, and every year we say it will be and it doesn’t. If it’s by choice, what does that tell you? Our defense is producing studs, yet, our offense can’t produce squat. At some point, Mariota deserves some blame as well and needs to look in the mirror.

Pats are consistently great because they let go of guys with big contracts and draft guys tailor made for their system. Thanks to Brady taking cuts and others leaving, they bring in veteran depth players that are smart and better than newcomers that others teams have to bring in when starters are injured...In turn, they always make the playoffs and compete.
