And for some reason, every single one of those coordinators have tried their best to design an offense that does not depend on Marcus Mariota.

    Makes you go hmmm, no?

Lol what? That doesn't make a lick of sense.

How, exactly, would you go about designing an offense only Mariota could run, even if you wanted to? He has two arms and two legs and throws a spiral like every other QB in the NFL. He's pretty fast and every coordinator has included designed QB runs in some form or fashion.

You guys have reached the point that your Mariota criticism has just become nonsensical.

Every coach we have had in Mariotas time has been bound and determined to run a run heavy offense. Limit the passing. Despite the fact that the rules tilt things in favor of passing

Why? Perhaps they knew that relying on Marcus to sling it all over the yard was the quick way to unemployment.

No denying that our o line has improved but that's not just for Marcus, Henry will benefit naturally as it will help him stopping to try and bounce outside if nothing has opened up and get negative yds like the start of the season last year.

Marcus however has multiple issues to resolve from what I seen. Trust his online again. I say this as he started running into pressure because he knew somewhere was gonna break. Also stop throwing high balls instinctively, now I'm not saying that he threw them overhead all the time but often he was throwing it high and the receiver was having to try and jump/stretch to get the ball and there was no time for RAC yds as Corey or whoever's had dbs over them. I'm guessing he was doing this to eliminate ints as much as possible but it doesn't work because they just tip the ball for another chance of a catch.

But to be fair Taylor and Jonnu should have caught more last year there was just too many dropped balls.

Gabbert's sack rate was less than half of that of Mariota. Behind the same line. There's not much else to say.

Listed below are his weaknesses per his draft profile on NFL.com. The reason that he takes so many sacks and faces so many blitzes is clear:

Benefits from an offense that is predicated on simplified reads. Offense able to create wide-open receivers after busted coverages at times. Needs to improve resetting feet when maneuvering pocket to improve accuracy and power. Tends to "see" pass rush too often. Will drop eyes and look to escape pocket rather than stepping to available pocket space. Frequent trips outside pocket increase opportunity for injury. Pocket feel is very average. Stepped into sacks he had no business taking. Didn't have to throw to tight windows often. Average processor on field. Still learning when to get rid of the ball and move to next play. Slow to make anticipatory throws and can improve patience in allowing combo routes to mature rather than rushing the read. Missed obvious pre-snap blitzes. Drive accuracy needs work. When cutting it loose, ball tends to sail on him a bit. Arm strength is adequate but inconsistent to field side. Needs to bring hips through throws to increase zip into tight windows in NFL. Fumbled 27 times during his career.

Doesn't depend? Most coaches who don’t trim a west coast system feature run first oriented offenses. There are exceptions and more and more are on both sides of the equation.

The Rams are a run first offense and we are running that system. Some coaches From that are run first and others are pass first. Mostly a philosophical thing. Our previous coaches are mostly old school so run first by nature.

Based on Henry’s December wouldn’t you want to keep featuring that and hurt teams with play action off of it?
