As a WVU fan, I can tell you guys that this guy reads plays as well as about any college LB I've seen. Just seems to always end up where the ball does. Truly great instincts as a tackler. That said, his size makes one wonder if he can hack it in the NFL. He may have to find a way to put some weight on without losing much speed/quickness to stick. He definitely has potential.

Not sure about this one with a legit DE and CB still on the board... just my .02 cents but Jelks or Boyd would have made more sense IMO.

NE owes a great deal of their ability to stay competitive because of their quality depth. I think we look for players who we believe can at least provide that, instead of reaching or kicking the tires on an area which may be of greater need

Boyd graded higher than Hooker and I’m not sold on a couple of our CB’s... Jelks definitely graded higher than Long... just saying they may be seeing something I’m not or have a plan for them I just think we had a shot at two guys who had the potential to light a fire under the asses of some also rans...

The more I read about this kid, the more I like him. Will be great in special teams, solid depth at LB, and could evolve into a starter eventually.. or at least a very good rotational guy like Brown was. Brown now is starter quality and Long can be in that path. Good on coverage and great blitzer.

Boyd and Jelks are both good players. Sometimes it’s not just about their grades. It also has to be a scheme fit or a certain skillset. Some might grade a little lower but would suit our style of play better. We’ve seen many highly touted players look horrible when they can’t adapt to a different scheme. Hopefully we’ve found a couple of ballers in this class.

ESPN, Boyd had a 73 IIRC Jelks had a 69... Hooker had a 71 I believe and Long had a 60. All I’m saying is both of those positions were of bigger need IMO than a tweener S/LB and a S... unless they were picked for versatility, ST it didn’t make sense to ME. We have a couple guys Boyd and Jelks could have lit a fire under, again IMO.

Jackson, Butler, Ryan, Sims, and Smith. I don’t see how DB was a bigger need than safety. We only have 3 safeties for 2 spots. Needed more depth. Also he can fill in as a nickel CB.

We drafted Walker instead of Jelks. Now we have a ILB to rotate in once Woodward is done.
