    <yawn...>

You missed all of the points I made and reverted back to your tribal hatred for Mariota. Let it go.

I refuted all of your points in your last post. I see you could not refute any of the points I made. If you can't, then you know you are on the wrong side of this argument!

But let's knock out the nonsense you decided to put up here away so you can focus on trying to refute my last post.

How much help does a qb need? A poor ol, no run game and 1 good weapon seems to be too little. Or do you think that's enough for a non Hall of Fame qb?

We spent two HIGH first round picks on OT's? It's not about what you spent, but what you got. Lewan was picked 11th and has been very good. Conklin was picked 8th and was terrible last year. So being a high draft pick doesn't negate terrible play and qualify as a pro bowl player when he's getting his qb killed. Do you think 1st round busts should be counted as great talent simply because they went in round 1? The draft currency you spend on a player doesn't equate to production, it equates to a CHANCE to become that good in the NFL. If they don't live up to that, you can't count them as being great players when they play terribly. Can you?

Walker was hurt all last year, so you still want to count him as a weapon Mariota had last year? CD was his only true weapon. How did Henry perform last year prior to December? Did he play like a 2nd round pick? No, he was so bad, they didn't give him many carries (even though the plan before the season was to feature him) and seriously considered trading him. Are you suggesting our 'high priced OC' (who I think is around middle of the pack money) who led the league in sacks for all oc's (and it's worse when you consider how little we threw the ball)...was an asset to Mariota last year?

We brought in LaFleur because the Rams had the hottest offense and we could get their OC to be our OC.

And are you qualifying players like Jones, Kline, Spain, Taywan Taylor...as good players??? Jones led the league in sacks for all OC's. Kline and Spain were dumped (fired) and Taylor showed flashes but was up and down and dropped some huge passes last year. I'm guessing you'd qualify Taylor's 37 catches for 456yds and 1 TD as below avg stats?

The problem is, you can't say he was surrounded by talent last year because there is no refuting what happened at many positions starting with the OL. Our interior 3 were not good and Conklin was bad...no matter what his draft pedigree was. Walker was hurt so no pro bowl TE. CD was his only weapon until December. And you think he has so many weapons and great people surrounding him?

And take a look at this. These are GB's picks since Aaron Rodgers was drafted.
2005 took Rodgers in 1st, wr in 2nd
2006 took OT in 2nd, wr in 2nd
2007 took RB in 2nd, wr in 3rd
2008 took wr in 2nd (didn't have a first), qb in 2nd, TE in 3rd
    2010 took OT in 1st
2011 took OT in 1st, wr in 2nd, rb in 3rd
    2013 took rb in 2nd
    2014 took WR in 2nd
    2015 took wr in 3rd
    2016 took OT in 2nd

So let's see, since ARodgers was drafted...
    First round - 2 OT's (like us)
    Second Round - 1 QB, 2 OT's, 5 WR's, 2 RB's
    Third Round - 2 WR's, 1 TE, 1 RB
    ______________________________________

That's a haul of 4 OT's, 1 QB, 7 WR's, 1 TE, and 3 RB's. Looks like they put plenty of offensive talent around him. But more to the point, again, you are comparing Mariota to a Hall of Fame qb. Is that a fair comparison? Should we start comparing CD to Jerry Rice and Derick Henry to Barry Sanders? Those would be similarly laughably bad comparisons. Are those fair comparison's in your mind?

Sign Suh, landry should be better than Rak and Wake will be better than Morgan. A combo of Suh and Casey would make it a nice fron 4 in nickel pass rush and we can drop 7. Add a good pass rusher in the 3rd combined with Finch and Correa and you can see how it'd be an upgrade and could work nicely. Plus, we should be able to control the clock and score more points on offense. Fewer chances for Luck.

LOL! The stats would suggest that Mariota has helped Walker reach his potential and keep him at his best levels of production (not what you'd expect from a guy who you think sucks). The evidence? In Mariota's rookie season, Walker had career bests in receptions with 94 for 1088yds. He came back down a bit to just being very good the last two years (60+ catches and around 800yds) and reached his career high in td's in 2016 with Marcus. So I think setting career best in receptions and yardage is pretty good. And 3 of Walker's 4 best season's have come with Marcus throwing him the ball.

So for another QB, it's about what's around him? You have brushed off our extremely poor OL play and suggested guys like Taywan Taylor are good weapons around Mariota (and brought up Matthews...who QUIT on the team). Stills outplayed Taylor, right? I doubt the Dolphins OL was worse than ours for most of the season.

QBR is a better measure of the quality of qb play since it takes some context into the rating. Mariota had a 55.6 last year, tied for 19th with Cam Newton. Ryan tannehill ranked 32nd with a 35.4. 50 is considered average qb play.

So a bad OL excuses Tannehill's mistakes but it's Mariota's fault when our OL plays terribly? How come you're not expecting tannehill to escape any pressure by athletically 'impressing' you?

And HUH??? Tannehill's qb rating was 92. something...same as Mariota. Both had games where they had qb ratings over 100...but neither finished the season that way. Didn't we have a winning record last year?

Who is absolving him of ANY BLAME??? But you are trying to absolve EVERYONE else of THEIR blame and put others' mistakes and poor play on Mariota. Mariota made his own mistakes to be criticized for and Mariota is the first one to point the finger at himself when he plays poorly. I have mentioned and called out everyone who has played poorly...including Mariota. But you don't want fair criticism...you just want to blame the qb for everything.

Actually, I think the disagreement is that the haters want to HATE him so they blame him for everything. They ran out of beer on the main concourse...blame Mariota!!!

I think you're right in that they would have replaced him long ago (like after his first bad game in 2015)...but they understand it's put up or he's out kind of a season!

But the irrational hatred still abounds!

How big could Delanie’s impact be this year if he’s back to form?

He was the 1 guy you couldn’t cover, and now we have another savvy Me. Reliable and Davis coming into his own.

Taywan and Delanie’s could be difference makers. If Walker is healthy and Taywan learns to track and catch better we could have a very efficient offense.

I like the idea of signing Suh, just don’t think it’s happening. To me, that means we’re drafting DL early this year.

I'm hopeful Delanie is back fully healthy, but even then, he's a 35 year old TE and showed signs of slowing down in 2017. I don't think a major injury and being out for a full season is going to exactly help him, and time stops for no one*. I really would like to see us get Marcus another true weapon at TE. Jonnu looked ok, but Marcus loves him some TE and hoping that Delanie will be back to 2016 form is wishing on a star.

*Does not apply if your name is Frank Gore.

Walker coming back fully healthy and producing at his normal clip of the last 5 years would be VERY helpful to the offense in many ways. 3 weapons instead of 1 (CD, Humphries, Walker), they have to account for covering him out of base defenses, and we need the production. Plus, he's almost always open and them trying to cover him should open things up more for CD. The effect should be more points, more first downs, more top which equals better offense...which is what we need.

Can Taylor take the next step? I hope so...but not sure....which I think is why they signed Humphries...who plays mostly the same position.

Problem is, Walker is not healthy yet and a 35yr old may or may not come back fully healthy. Even if he does, he may not stay healthy. Remember, he's only played 16 games ONCE in the last 5 years. I don't think Johnnu is healthy yet either so some major concerns at TE....especially with Stocker (who did a lot of the blocking after Smith and Walker were hurt) leaving.

So could it all come together...new OL meshing, Taylor taking the next step, Walker and Smith coming back and staying healthy for 16 games, Henry running like he did in December, Mariota taking another step or 2 and staying healthy...? Could it? Yes. Is that likely? No. We need insurance...as witnessed by them upgrading the OL with Saffold (so far), adding Tannehill, and Humphries. OC, RG, TE and #2 wr would be spots they could upgrade via the draft on offense.

But chances are, our offense should be MUCH better than last year. We already have a better OL, more weapons, and hopefully Henry can stay at the level he was at during last December. Those things should help Mariota a lot!
