What to do with Mariota past 2019

Moving goalposts since the original argument was mariota outplayed Watson in a game Mary lost

 

Anyone can find any week of any qb where they have better stats than a much much better qbs. Hence why head to head stats are retarded

well if you lost and the other person won... you clearly didnt outplay them... seems like that would come with the territory of outplaying

Everyone gets blame for that game. Some sacks were on the OL - wish played pretty poorly. I think at least 1 was on our rb. Some were coverage sacks where no one was open. Some was on the playcalling for putting us in a position where we're sending 5 guys out and we can't protect well enough against a 4 man rush. And certainly some of them are on Mariota who said as much. Sometimes he couldn't find anyone open, other times he tried to run away from the pressure and simply couldn't. It was a rough game all around. But again, is that ALL on the QB? Mariota should take his fair share of the lumps but I don't see anyone calling out the other players who contributed bad/terrible outings...is the point.

You just answered your own question. He elevated/helped us win some games when our OL was terrible and our run game was about as bad as it could be. He came in and played hurt against the Jags and willed us to a win. Philly's, Chargers, Dallas, NE and Houston in wk 12. Late when Henry was in beast mode they didn't need him to do a lot and he was still playing hurt. I think if he was healthy and had that run game and that OL, we'd see more of his best. But as you said, and I keep saying, he needs to be consistent with it this year or he's gone.

So wins earlier in the season when the OL and run game are bad...don't count?

As you mentioned earlier, he HAS done it in games...so why do people keep asking if he CAN?

Mariota needs protection...all of them do...but we haven't been good at doing that. Those other QB's also have pro bowl or all pro caliber weapons, Mariota hasn't except for Walker who was hurt all year. Even when you get a Mahomes, he has two huge mismatch weapons and a good ol to protect him. All qb's need help. CD is a good start. Humphries is a nice addition and upgrading the line should be huge though I think we probably need one more piece. But again, the question is not whether he's good enough to elevate us and win games for us, the question is whether he can do it consistently!!!

Sometimes they don't play well either due to injuries...but a lot of those guys have more protection and more help.

That's why he needs to be more consistent or he'll be moving on.

What that should tell you is that ratings only are indicators. You need to look at the whole package to put things into context. And I'm not making my point for you. If Indy takes the kick off and marches 90 yards down the field...shredding our D, what does THAT have to do with our QB? That's on our D! And part of that shredding is their run game beating our D badly.

 

Apparently not since we're still waiting on you showing Manziel outplaying Brady head to head. Repeating the wrong thing will not make it become true...no matter how many times you say it.

No...we don't. But IF AB had 195yds receiving and 2 TD's and Sharpe had 200yds receiving and 3 TD's...it would show us that Sharpe CAN play at that high of a level...which was MY POINT that you keep mangling!

 

I like your positive attitude, I'm sure some will but there are those that would rather b*tch and complain.
