Players you do NOT want the Titans to draft

LOL! Of course not. BPA and Need alone are bad strategies that don't work. Let's take our current situation. We have strong needs at DL, EDGE, WR, IOL and upgrade or near future needs at TE, DL, EDGE and potentially OC, CB, ILB.

You have a plan based on your board...we have 1 DT and 2 EDGE we value as top 5 picks. They go off the board in the top 5. No one falls out of our top 10 group either. Between picks 10-20 we like 2 EDGE, 2 OL, 1 WR, 1 TE and 1 DT. After those guys, our next group of players have 2nd round grades on them so we either want one of these guys or want to trade down.

Let's say we get to pick 15 and only 1 guy is left...you try and see who is likely to take him so you know who you have to jump ahead of...then move up to get him. Or if it's cost prohibitive, you try to trade back to better match taking 2nd round pick graded players with 2nd round picks. The last thing you want to do is take a 2nd round graded player in round 1.

The other option is we get to our pick and we have 1 EDGE, 1 TE, and 1 OL of the group we like. You look at the highest graded player out of that group. If you have them all graded the same, you take either the player you like best, the most scarce position player (if I can get a C almost as good next round but not EDGE, you take the EDGE), or...you see if you can move down 2 spots guaranteeing you still get one of those players and more picks later.

You never just take positional need without matching the value of the draft pick (#19 in round 1) with the grade value. Ideally, we match grade of player with where they get drafted with need of position. Even better if you can do this throughout the draft and cover all your biggest needs at the same time.

It took all year for one of those guys to do anything and Hump is on a new team.

Sharpe might not even make the roster.

Hell, Sharpe and Taylor have less than 800 yards and 4 TDS between them. That’s not talent.

Yeah I’m not big on burns. I think Jrob and co. Will continue to look for guys NFL ready with production. Wilkins, Ferrel, etc...

 

yeah, I actually watched him laslt night.... seems he's so adamant about trying to hot foot his way to the qb, that he just lets rbs dance on by.

 

The problem is...his combination of athleticism and skills is top 10. He is a Danielle Hunter clone. If we project him as the next Danielle hunter, I think we'd all be ecstatic. Problem is...can he add even MORE weight and strength and keep during an NFL season? The fact that he bulked up to 249 and still put on a combine shows makes me think yes. And his ability to get a low angle arc running around the tackle is as good as anyone...and that includes Josh Allen. We won't find a guy in round 2 who has such an explosive first step AND that kind of bend around the arc. Plus, he doesn't has a pretty good spin move and he has a nice inside counter too and shows the ability to slap hands off him. And with his quick feet and twitch, he can make some dynamic plays and SHOULD be a consistent 10+ sack guy. But he'll need to add some bulk...I'd say 10-15lbs and get a lot stronger.

His biggest weaknesses are his anchor and shed vs the run and you don't see him beat people with much of a bull rush in the pass rush. People like to throw around this concept of converting speed to power (Fergasun and Gary come to mind) and it's not really something in his repertoire. If he adds that, he could become better than Hunter. But if his upside is a 14-15 sack a year guy and his floor is an elite situational pass rusher...there are worse things to take at pick 19.

He's definitely on my first round board and quite arguably the 3rd best EDGE pass rusher in the draft (Bosa and Allen).
