Suh would make a BIG impact on the D!!! But we still need another EDGE to pair with Wake. But I take your point well.

If we did go in this direction, what players do you think are offensive game changers you'd want in rounds 1 and 2?

But more importantly to any SB discussion, we'd need the offense to make it into the top 10 of the league. More protection and more weapons for Mariota gives us the chance...but can we put that altogether?

Not much on Suh except he prefers to play on the West Coast. Problem is...the only two teams it makes sense to sign him don't have the cap to sign him. Bot the Seahawks and Chargers have less cap than his contract last year. And I don't see Suh taking a $6mil/yr deal with the Chargers instead of $12mil/yr from us. If he was gonna take a discount, I'd expect him to go to the Pats to get a ring. But I think Suh puts his value on his contract so he'll want the most bang. I think most of the teams that want him are gonna wait to see if they get a big time DT in the draft first. And lastly, Suh signed with the Rams last year on March 26th.

I think we will see how 3 things play out. One possibility is to sign Suh before or after (during?) the Draft. Second, do we draft a star DT in round 1. 3rd, what would it cost to trade for McCoy.

Right now, I think Bradbury is 1A and McCoy 1B. I've been impressed with McCoy's tape. I think he got beat once against Bama...but he was sometimes solo'd on Quinen and did a really good job!

Isabella is just a faster, less refined, Adam Humphries. If we go after a WR he should have some size and field stretching ability.

I went to Facebook to check out their feeds. Some of them are so hopeful.

But when you have a problem with your line and no cap space, I guess desperation kicks in.

Man I like Metcalf still. Metcalf and Corey with humphries in the slot sounds fire. Sprinkle in some taywan here and there and have sharpe for depth. I just think Metcalf gives us a guy who will eliminate pressure off the rest of our weapons. He's also much better than people are giving him credit for, yeah his route running isn't all that, but we already have a bunch of guys that are great route runners and possession guys. We need a burner, and having one that is as imposing as Metcalf is just too intriguing to me.

I also hear the tight end class is really good, I Just haven't looked into them too much. I wouldn't mind if we went that direction, I just don't know if that's the move that would optimize our starting lineup

Through mid November it looks like 9th. So he's getting quite a bit of pressure. And not all pressure is the same. The most impact pressure comes right up the middle or a free rusher from the blind side. Mariota has had a lot of pressure coming up the middle since Spain or Kline or Jones have gave up a lot of pressure.

You might also notice that only Wilson and Mahomes have been excellent despite high pressure while most of the least pressured qb's are highly successful.

So point out flaws in Mariota's game...not justify he should be awesome despite top 10 pressure. That's a reason to explain how he should be helped, not blamed.

The Pats are successful over many others due to many things they do differently...but one of them is how they use their players. They find unique skill sets and put them in positions to use those skill sets to their advantage. From Welker to Edelman, they have found a way to kill everyone with small quick wr's and rb's. They don't take an Edelman in round 1...but they find what he's great at and let him go.

Metcalf is that type of player. He's not gonna be the type of guy who's gonna run the full route tree well. But you don't need him to do that. Utilize his strengths and make them work for us.

One of our biggest problems is that defenses aren't afraid of our passing game. For one, we have tended to try and run a high percentage, 2 Mariota has been inconsistent year to year throwing deep, and we have no burners. We have no one who can consistently scare a defense or make them pay for playing press cover 1 saying I dare you. Metcalf could be that guy. There is not a CB in the league that matches up well with him and would want to try and press him. He's too big, strong, fast, athletic, and he has great arms for a LT. Think a slightly smaller Calvin Johnson or Demaryius Thomas. These guys typically run about 5-6 routes the vast majority of the time since few if any 230lb wr's can stop on a dime and have amazing lateral agility and flexible hips. What they do have is speed, power, strength! They're a twin turbo humvee trying to be covered by a mini cooper.

They will run go routes, posts, slant, curl, out and digs...and of course a fade in the red zone. Most of these routes are vertical attacking routes and that's what you want. They are VERY difficult to press...not because they can't be...but when you miss it's usually a big play at best...or a TD.

My biggest issues with Metcalf are drops, injury concerns, and production. if he didn't have these issues he's a top 5 pick. But he does so medical is medical...if he checks out that's off the list. if he doesn't, he's off the board. Some of the production issues come from his injuries, part from being misused and part from his play (drops being a factor). Additionally Brown is a pretty darn good WR to be pulling his production.

So for him to be an awesome wr or even a useful one, he needs to be healthy, work on his hands (concentration lapses more than anything), and learn the offense. He will excel at taking the top off the defense and run blocking. With CD and Humphries and Walker back and an improved OL and Henry running like he did in December... and you can make a case this offense COULD get where we need it to go. And Metcalf could make a big impact from day 1.

So I'm less worried about his 3 cone time or stop/start or lateral agility drills. Show me a 230LB wr who is 6'3 with a 40"vert, who can push iron likes he's an OL, runs a 4.3 40 and a FASTER 10 yd split than Desean Jackson and can make one handed catches and post up cb's in the ednzone and you have a pretty good case for AT WORSE, a #2 WR who helps in the run game and the passing game, is a weapon in the red zone, and opens up coverage holes for the other 3. Not bad if we get him at 19.

Sure. He's getting pressure. He gets it because he hasn't proved he can make you pay for it.

He needs to prove he can navigate the pocket and get rid of the ball quickly.

And yeah, the line needs to play better too.
