I understand it’s technically phrased wrong but the main point of the statistic is the hits produced since 2006. Again, I didn’t make this stat sheet up.

Wait...huh? How is it not relevant ? The guy has been consistently getting hits on the QB for over a decade. Wake is not the long term solution, he was signed as a rotational player who brings leadership and a veteran presence to a young upcoming group. He just happens to be a very very effective player who is 37 that has a solid resume with the limited snaps he does play. Miami was a dumpster fire last year, he got 6.0 sacks which was 1 less than four of OLBs combined outside of Landry. I understand the guy is 37 which apparently is sticking out more than his production but beyond his age Wake is still producing and getting the job done with a limited role not to mention he’s basically a 1 year rental. IMO it was a good signing.

Not if it stopped us from signing a younger vet. I like Wake but if he got 6 sacks last year , we’ll be lucky if he gets 3 this year. We have enough guys like that.

He got 6 sacks(my correction)on a bad defense playing 47% of the snaps. The Titans have a lot more talent on defense than Miami had which should only improve his numbers. We don’t have any guys like that right now on the edge who can get at least 6 sacks consistently solo.

I rarely watched Wake except for when the Titans played the Fins (which seems like every year). He destroyed the Titan in '15 with four sacks but I remember him just being disruptive every time the two played each other. He had an impact on how the Titans played offense.

The most frustrating thing defensively for me last season was not getting any pressure. Even if he comes in only on obvious passing downs and commands a double team, it helps Casey and gives a LB a better lane.

I believe the Titans secondary is good enough to give Wake more time to turn some pressures into sacks.

It's not more than a one-year solution, IMO. The Titans have to upgrade the DL. Casey isn't getting any younger and the Titans got no sacks from Jones last season.

We don't talk about Jones much but he's been a big disappointment to me. He had 3.5 sacks (8 pressures) in '17 on only 12 games but no sacks last year. Granted, the Pees defense is going to change the role of the DEs on obvious passing downs but Casey still got 7 sacks last season.

The Titans MUST get more pressure out of their DL. I hope we see one drafted in the first couple of rounds who can learn a lot from Casey/Wake.

He's been one of the most underrated players in the league and right up there with the elite pass rushers. I'm sure he isn't mentioned in that company because he has been on a bad team with bad defenses and has never puts up monster numbers, though he's a consistent double digit sack player when healthy. His pass rush production has been right behind Von Miller over the years, and he had the same # of QB hurries last year.

Houston has been brittle over the years, and other than his one great year, Wake has been equally or more productive at taking Down the QB. While playing part time. Signing him to a lucrative contract is risky, as is trading for Ford and doing the same. He had a career year when opposing teams were trying to keep up with KC's offense and they could all pin their ears back and go after the QB. Wake's been on teams whose offense treads water every game, so he never really got to be utilized to his fullest as a designated pass rusher. If the offense plays well enough that we can back teams into a corner and rush the QB more aggressively like we did against NE, I can easily see him positing double digit sack numbers. He's a great placeholder at a good value, as few can rush the QB like him.

He'll be rotational, and is being brought in as a veteran stop gap. We'll probably draft 2 outside rusher as well, one early, and one as a flier later.

Is Correa still on the roster? If so, he'll play the rush downs and give way to Wake on pass downs, with Landry playing a full time roll on the other. The rookies will rotate in as needed.

Not saying it was a bad signing. But that stat isn't representative of his talent level now at 37 years old. I mean Frank Gore has over 14k yards in his career while averaging 4.4 ypc. Should we expect him to be a really good RB this year? Of course not.

I do like the signing. But you don't have to hate signing to realize he isn't as good as he once was, so expectations should be tempered.
