Titans Hire Arthur Smith as OC

It's not awful. It's not exciting.

None of the available OC's with experience were going to come here with Mariota basically being a lame duck QB. It also keeps a lot of continuity on the offense so MM8 doesn't have to start from scratch again - that's good for all of the Mariota apologists who were going to point to 4 OC's in 5 years (that's still technically true, but make no mistake, this was a hire to keep continuity).

Every good coordinator has had to pay their dues as quality control or position coaches. McVay was even a TE coach himself. Not saying he's McVay but maybe there's more to Arthur Smith than we really know. I'm going to withhold judgement until I see him in action, because there wasn't really anyone out there anyway that would have excited me.

 

Cant wait to go 9-7 again

 

Interesting how they credit Smith for Delanie Walker... If Smith is the reason Walker is as good as he is, why aren't all of our TEs as good as Walker.... I think it has been Walker making Smith look good....

 

In all fairness, he help make a couple of PS losers look decent this year

Do you think that the same OCs have been recycled around the league for decades? Positional coaches get promoted all of the time. You just have to trust that Vrabel knows what he's doing.
