h/t to @520 for the news

The Raiders could be playing in Tucson, AZ next year. Because, sure, why not.

Tucson Raiders? Attorney reaches out about possible move

For those unaware, The Raiders are moving to Las Vegas in 2020. They may leave Oakland a year early, if Oakland sues them. Tucson, AZ is making a hard push to have the Raiders come to town for a year.

I am not sure why they would not just go to Las Vegas and play in the UNLV football stadium. The Oilers made a big mistake playing in Memphis before Nashville. The concern was that the stadium at Vanderbilt was not big enough. Which foolish because they could not even draw enough people in Memphis to fill the Vanderbilt stadium.

    Update!

Birmingham (?) wants to share the team with Tucson lol

Report: Tucson and Birmingham want to share the Raiders

Oakland already is suing them, since December

One of the main reasons they're not playing in UNLV's stadium is that it doesn't meet the criteria for an NFL stadium and it would take a ton of money and work to get it there. Like they have to have certain facilities, luxury boxes, amenities, etc to be hold an NFL game, and it doesn't qualify.

I know San Antonio has been lobbying hard for them to come there as well.

The NFL should waive that rule in this instance

    Too late for that probably

NFL loves to wait til the 11th hour to do anything. Waiving a rule would have had to have happened at the owner meetings earlier. Right?

Probably so. I don't think the NFL wants to do that anyways. They don't want the Raiders to be that guy that shows up early to a party and just hangs around and watches while you prep all the food.

They want their entrance into Vegas to be a big thing in 2020, with the draft leading up to it and all the pomp and circumstance. Them going this year would just be weird. There's lots of other cities and areas that are begging to host them for a year.

Stupid Raiders - being out here in the Bay Area I was hoping for one last trip to that dump stadium in Oakland.

May just pony up some dough though and come to my first home Nashville game. I heard they’re not that’s expensive and you can move down to lower seats mid game?
