I recognize how many people were bummed out by my WR history thread, including myself, so I did some research to highlight one of our better positions, RB.
The poll at the top is really just for fun trivia.

Historically, the team has drafted fairly well at RB, at least from the higher rounds. We all know that Sankey was a bust and Chris Henry might be the biggest bust but I also chalk up a half decade of drafts to busts from (09-14) as pretty much every person drafted is gone.

With that said, here's some bright spots:
95' Yes, still the Oilers, but Rodney Thomas (3rd round) was decent and at least serviceable enough to make it through the transition to Tennessee and hang around for 1-2 years as the Titans. Never reached 1 K, but got to 945 before the next guy moved in.

96' 1st round, Eddie George. We have threads devoted to him, enough said.

00' 7th round, Mike Green. A few runs here and there, not really used, hung around a couple years.
2001 6th round Dan Alexander. Honestly can't remember the guy.

2003 3rd round Chris Brown. Lead dog for a couple years. I'll always remember him for the fumble inside the 5 against SD in the playoffs 2008. Overall, pretty good production from his draft spot and in transition after EG.

04' 6th round - Troy Fleming. kind of FB/ out of the backfield guy. not really used.
05' 5th round - Damien Nash. I watched him win the championship for the UFL Virginia Destroyers splitting time with Dominic Rhodes. That's pretty much his highlights.

2006 7th round (the other guy) Quintin Ganther. PS guy that seemed treated a lot like Tre McBride. People thought he had more than just PS talent.
2nd Round Lendale White. I thought he was a solid pick and ran well for 2 years until McDonalds caught up with him. Game over then, but 22 TD in 2 years, 1 splitting time, is pretty good.

2007 2nd Round Chris Henry. Easily the biggest RB miss until Sankey. Now there's debate.

2008 1st round CJ2K. He has his own threads too.

2009 5th round Javon Ringer. I thought he was a steal in the 5th. 0 fumbles at Mich St. Health was his downfall and CJ killing it. I think he was actually better than his final numbers, but not great.

2011 4th round Jamie Harper. Lenwhale #2. I thought he would get more carries also but he just quickly disappeared.

2014 2nd round. Bishop Sankey. BUST. Embarrassing he was picked before some of the other RB available.

2015 5th round. Cobb. Again I expected a little more from him, but really only after Sankey sucked that bad. Quickly gone.

2016 2nd Derrick Henry. I think we'll see good things as he takes over from Murray even spitting time.

2017 7th round. Muhammad. PS guy. I think he'll be gone in another year too.

The team has also done pretty well in FA at RB (again outside the dark times of 09-14)
Robert Holcombe played well as a break for Eddie George.
Travis Henry was a stud his 1 year as lead back.
Antowan Smith showed he had a little left to offer.
Shonn Greene wasn't a total waste, not very good though.
Dexter McCluster was a total waste.
Demarco Murray even if only for a brief moment, looked a little like old school EG. Solid 2 years and I hope the best as I think he's given his best days.

Jackie Battle is somewhere in there. Greg Comella was on the team. Skip Hicks had a year in there too.

Muhammad didn't even make it t otas, he was already cut. Also i dont think there is a debate, Sankey if he had been say, a 6th round pick brought in as a 3rd stringer then he could have made it. As a 2nd round starter on our terrible team, he never had a chance. Chris Henry on the other hand, frankly had no business even being in the league. He made it based on freakish combine numbers alone, at least Sankey had good college tape. Doesn't make him any less of a bust at the pick, but there's no comparing who's the worst pick.

I actually thought Muhammad was on the PS. Even so, I really didn't expect him to ever play.

Both Henry and Sankey were 2nd rd picks, but what makes it debatable between the 2 is that Sankey was the first RB taken with really good talent just behind him. I agree Henry was a waste all around and similar to the Taylor Thompson pick, just didn't make sense.
Also the reason why I pretty much hate the combine. All kinds of crazy shifts happen from guys just performing physical tests without the actual game play happening.

I was expecting more out of David Cobb when we drafted him in the 5th, thought he was a steal dropping to the 5th as he looked good in college. Maybe he never recovered from injuries. I also though Chris Brown would become the next Eddie for us, similar size and running style. Only gave us 1 season rushing for over 1,000 yards, injuries ruined him just like every RB except Sankey. Sankey just sucked in the NFL

I never felt like Brown could really fill the shoes of EG, and as I mentioned in the OP, I'll always remember his playoff fumble, but overall he was alright and a pretty good stop gap while the QB situation was changing along with Travis Henry.

By 2006, we were looking at almost a completely different team than the playoff run 99-04 teams and that started with Lenwhale and VY (even if Collins was really the QB).

    Here's 2 hints.
    1) 1 year Antonio Andrews was our leading RB. Undrafted, pretty out of shape, slow Antonio Andrews.
    2) another year our leading RB was arguably the biggest bust in franchise history and he was replaced by an undrafted, pretty out of shape, slow RB.
