Is Mariota making a grave mistake?

Some might say let Mariota do whatever he wants, hes great at improving his craft, and thats what you want in a QB. But hes now taking off the knee brace hes been using the last 2 seasons.

He says its restricting, which is true, but when you think youre Superman or a runningback maybe you need something holding you back (or together) when you have chronic leg injuries.

Last year Mariota shed10lbs and we were all worried about his durability, sure enough he pulls a hamstring down the road and misses a game, but would being 10lbs heavier have helped prevent that? Lets invite our resident know it alls @Jwill1919 and @Riverman to the show.......

Anyways, you play the way you practice, if hes not using it today he probably isnt using it on Sundays, and Im kind of worried for him. What do we think of him playing without the knee brace?

You of all people should know he greatly improved his ball security from 2016 to 2017.

So yes hes good at getting better at the things he sucks at.

 

Its entirely too easy and common for a linemen to roll a QB's knee, the brace is a precaution. All 5 linemen need to have these same braces on FTR.

Tom Brady wears a brace, every QB should have a brace on their left knee IMO.
