Yeah, for the last couple years, our defense specialized in “almost” sacks. Rak and Morgan would get close, but rarely home.

Part of that is neither of them is particularly fast. Part is that the secondary couldn’t cover for the requisite few seconds.

I think the secondary improvements will help our rush get there more often. And the improved rush should result in more bad balls coming out for the secondary to intercept. Should be a good situation for all.

I can't understand any of the criticism. He was selected where Noah Spence was in 2016, and he's more productive, more athletic, and isn't a crackhead. People were pounding the table for us to draft him. We should be happy that we have a better version of that guy, one who doesn't require a cold shower after drafting.

Good pass rush helps secondaries. Good secondaries create coverage sacks and pressures. JR has fixed both unit which will compliment each other. If the new coaching staff is even average, this team should be really good this year. If this coaching staff is as good as I think they are, nevermind I'm being too much of a homer lol.

Video is kind of long but this is a pretty good breakdown of Harold Landry. He obviously didn’t focus on the negatives here, but some good material nonetheless:

Don’t forget about middle pressure. It’s very easy to negate edge pressure if the QB just easily steps up in the pocket. Middle pressure destroys everything and allows DEs/OLBs to hit their landmarks.

    Have we addressed that?

Interestingly, Bob McGinn's survey of scouts had the team's picks slotted nearly exactly where they went. Landry may have been considered a first rounder on public draft boards, but for the pros he fell into the 40-60 range.

You do realize that we have one of the best interior rushers in the league?

I would have liked to see us grab a guy like Settle or a big ol mess in the middle. If nothing else, for run downs. I am stoked to see our D though
