Yeah I’d like him to fill that Eric Decker role and since he’s gone unsigned this long maybe he will cave to a slightly undermarket contract? Will see, either way he would likely be a solid addition to the receiving core.

Last I seen on him - was that Arizona offered him a contract but he didn’t accept it.

I think the issue for him will be the amount of time he'll be on the field assuming he's likely not to see a big payday and possibly may only get a one-year deal somewhere.

He needs the opportunity to put up some big numbers. I don't know if that happens here.

But I thought the guy was amazing in college and early in his career.

    Eric Decker role?

So he's gonna come to Nashville, smash a hot country singer and drop a bunch of passes?

This guy is the perfect fit to round out our WR group. Experienced, good route runner, cheap. I'm all for it.

Looking at his options Id say I like our chances to land him.

In TN he could potentially fit in as a WR2-3. In New England there would be more comptition between him, Hogan, Edleman, and Mitchell. Not to mention Pats also have Britt and Patterson kicking around fighting for spots too.

Packers and us should be his top 2 landing spots.

We only have 4 WRs on the roster and Rishard is the only one you can consider a veteran. I'm surprised this is the first free agent receiver we've met with, but Matthews also makes the most sense financially. We should be able to get him on a short term reasonable deal. That still leaves 1 receiver spot available on the roster if we want to draft one.

I definatly would love grabbing Matthews on a 1-2 year deal. He has enough upside to be our number 2 while having a low enough stock that we won't have to guarantee him a spot on the depth chart.
