    Seriously though, iTunes, Netflix and AP have been a wasteland these past few months as far as good new releases go.
    I've be re-watching rock docs and series stuff to get by.

    I think other companies are figuring out they can create and stream their own stuff and not have to rely on 3rd party sites. Assuming they have a decent enough library.

    Most are independent production companies who hock their wares to streaming services and sometimes even major cable networks. AMC has bought a few that way. Probably Showtime etc as well. I think HBO mostly funds their own projects but I could be wrong.

    Possibly the movies worth having are getting pricey for Netflix to buy for distribution - now that companies are realizing it's legit. Netflix probably earns more getting mostly weak, cheaper stuff than paying to distribute "bigger" things.

    I don't know...

    I approach this like I do Netflix and Spotify, you can watch movies you normally wouldn't bother to see.

    For example, I'd never have seen Darkest Hour if I had to drop $14 .

    I'm sure you have, but did you watch the HBO series Sonic Highways? It was pretty fantastic stuff. Been talks of a season 2 for years now but haven't heard much else about it.

    Yeah I watched all those. Pretty good, if you can tolerate Foo-world.
    The ones I really enjoyed on Netflix were We Are Twisted F'n Sister (so so good, even if you can't stand TS. This probably was my favorite so far). I really liked the Thor (Jon Mikl Thor) doc as well as the Anvil doc. You don't have to like these bands to enjoy the doc.
    Danny Says (Danny Fields). And the Rush doc was about as thorough as any rock doc I've seen, and @avvie will attest to me not being a huge Rush fan but it's a decent production.
    I'll watch most any of the music stuff.
