He lost JJ Watt..Cushing, Merciless for a long time, Clowney was in and out..Their whole D was hurt.

Look at the LBs he coached the previous 2years.. top 3 defense.

Every coach can get the injury bug. Plus without Watson, their D was always on the field

glad jim schwartz is not coming back or any past coaches for that matter; the titans need a new qualified younger face that haven't been exposed to titan blue kool-aid

We could hire Vince Lombardi, Chuck Noll, Tom Landry, Don Shula and y'all would still complain.

Congrats on a great hire, Vrabel is the real deal: always a great leader in New England, and sorely missed when he went to work with the Texans. I guess I'm rooting for the Texans (edit: Titans...duh brain freeze) and Niners now, when it doesn't affect New England.

Well nearly all coaches eventually get fired.

Mularkey's scheme HAD to go- these players won in spite of it, not because of it. Mularkey chose to go with it. Making a change was the right move.

HC needs to be a CEO- not a manager. Vrabel is young, has a good player record and all reports indicate players have respected him at his various stops.

This whole process was initiated for a better offense, one that can further develop our franchise QB. We had to go all in. And we need a CEO type HC not married to their own brand of offense. That way we can jettison a scheme if it doesn't work. Just can't do that with a HC who is married to their own scheme.

I'm OK with Vrabel. The real question is who is going to be OC and QB coach and what type of offense are they going to implement and how quickly can it be run efficiently. A secondary question is what will our D be? Is DLB going to be the DC? I'd bet yes until he decides to retire. And I suspect we are going to add a bevy of talent on the D side of the ball this off season.

My only concern is how consistent (and professional) can Vrabel can be. He's inexperienced so we'll have to see how he can handle the issues a HC is certain to face. Can he be diplomatic enough to keep everyone focused, or will his inexperience direct his decisions without concern for the ramifications (e.g.- McDaniels stint in Denver). We'll have to see. But I do have faith that JRob knows this guy and feels good about the answer to that question.

I don't think any position coach should be advanced to a HC. The Coordinator position is the best possible. And we probably beat the rush on Vrabel by grabbing him this year. I suspect he'd be a top consideration in the next couple of years.

    Titans being Titans once again.

I trust Robinson, but god. This is hard to like.

Seems more like a friend giving a friend a job more so than someone being qualified.

Vrabel wasn’t sh** as a D coordinator and has little experience outside of that. Being “tough nosed” only goes so far.
