Pre-Game Thread AFC Divisional Playoffs: Titans @ Patriots

The one thing you can't argue against is Father Time, and that nothing last forever. You guys have had a historic run but all good things must come to an end. Brady and Belicheat will retire at some point.

Indy isn't dominate anymore without Manning, the odds of the Patriots landing another Brady is zero.... much less than our chances to win this weekend. Lightning never strikes twice in the same spot. So, just like I enjoy watching all of the Indy fans getting a taste of reality, I will also enjoy it when the Patriots are in rebuild mode with some 3-4 win seasons. It will happen, trust me. Even Rome fell and so will the Patriots.

 

The real danger will be when Belichick leaves. When Cassell, by all accounts a mediocre QB, was behind center the Pats went 11-5. But I also think many NE fans don't appreciate how clutch Brady is in high pressure situations. Even in the SBs we lost, he actually marched down the field and put as ahead near the end of the game. The defense couldn't hold up against Manning's miracles.

So I expect without the Belichick culture, there will be an even steeper dropoff, but without Brady, we won't have the clutch performances in the playoffs.

As a fan since the days of Plunkett and Grogan, living through the crap years, I try to never take it for granted. Bledsoe was really good, but not as clutch as Brady.

That said, the formula for beating them is simple: take away the pocket from Brady. He is nothing if not a pocket quarterback. When you take that away, he is rattled. The problem is that is so easy to say, but very hard to implement for 60 minutes.

 

Exactly, everyone knows how to beat Brady but it's easier said than done. But with age he will become more vulnerable sooner or later. As a Titans fan, I hope it's tomorrow! Time to pass the torch to a new clutch performer!

 

If MM8 and the Titans can upset the patriots in a convincing way you bet there will be talks of the end to their dynasty, the passing of the torch to MM8 and all that jazz.

Mariota hasn't had the best year this year but if you're just looking at statistics, he had a better first three years than Brady. Brady couldn't even win the starting job his first year or his second. It took Bledsoe going down to give him his shot and by all accounts he was just a game manager his first couple of years. If you're going to be an obnoxious fan at least learn your own teams history...lol
