So Mariota is a mindless automaton who just does as he is told... That would be terrible if true.

Tell me, do you think Manning or Brady just did whatever the coach told them to or do you think they adjusted on their own?

Why you keep trying to spin this into something it isn't. Its not about Mariota being a mindless puppet. Its about a play call designed to go to our best receiver which is literally something every team does. If the execution was perfect it would still be a tight window throw Mariota is forced to make. 3 receivers on the same side of the field running 15+ yard routes. Its a horribly designed play that required perfect execution to get a 15 yard grab from Walker near the sideline promoting zero yards after the catch. Point the finger at the coaches for scheming that crap.

We have to agree to disagree. I don't think it was the best play to call but it wasn't terrible.
Davis doesn't do a good enough job selling it and Peters makes a really good play. It happens, sometimes the other team makes a play. My point is simply if everyone on tvis board knew beforehsnd that this was a terrible play, then so should Mariota and he should have done something different. But he didn't think it was terrible so he executed as it was designed.

I don't give a crap that Gruden thought it was bad. Hindsight is 20/20. Just look at all the QB busts he's been hyping the last couple of years. Armchair football is easy.

Why when were running 3 WR sets all three of the WRs are on the same side of the field?

A lot of things go into a play like this. Maybe Davis ran his route too deep. Maybe Peters gambled when he shouldn’t have and could’ve easily given up a TD had Mariota decided to throw the skinny post. Maybe Mariota made a bad read.

It’s a thing that happens in football. Move on

I thought Davis was supposed to go straight towards the back of the EZ. He starts running towards the left where the safety is which made it even easier for peters to hold on Walker.

I think it's bad design and on Davis. I'll also give credit to peters for reading it.

It took Mariota to take over.

Commentators were saying all 2nd half how Mariota was calling virtually every play at changing a lot at the LOS, including the 35 yard TD run by Henry. Mariota spotted the mismatch and changed it to a run to the left.

This. Davis needed to go further into the endzone to continue to draw Peters that way, leaving Walker to run toward the sideline and make the catch. The UK commentary where im based showed KC make the exact same play in the 1st quarter, with Kelce catching 1 yard from the sideline and running out.

The difference in the play was Davis not completing his route which Peters noticed and moved off him, realizing he wasnt the target.
