8-4 a mirage according to the Washington Post...and me

(This ended up being an extension of shoutbox and my views on the whole thing so I only say it once and people can agree or agree to disagree)

I can point out just as many deficiencies of this team as anyone but its honestly past that. I want to see the Titans in a playoff game. Yes, it will suck if we get knocked out, but Ill say it sucks when it gets to that point.


Everyone knows we arent consistently a very good team, and that were just finding ways to win. But damn man, why complain nonstop about it? After we win a game, there are people in shoutbox quick to point out how we arent very good.

Many of you may be right and we end up sucking to all hell next year. That means next season will be a letdown and it'll suck for everyone. At least TRY to enjoy this season while its happening. You guys act as if getting rid of Mularkey is going to instantly make us better. Do you REALLY not remember what we were fed before MM was hired?

You trust those guys to make the right decision next time??????


As for the point of this thread, this article is a bit "no *@(% Sherlock" for most of us. It isnt some revelation, it isn't something we dont know, and it isn't something that hasn't been discussed a million times. Yet its posted as if it is some sort of validation for what some people wont shut up about in shoutbox.


Even immediately after a win, you guys are in there talking about how it wasn't enjoyable for you because of how badly we looked or how bad the other team is. If you cant find something to enjoy out of an 8-4 season after the crap we have been seeing the past decade, then I dont know why you watch this team.

And what..... what happens if we win a playoff game, and its ugly like the ones we have been watching? Everything goes from "oh we suck" to "okay Mularkey is legit."

"Oh, Mularkey sucked all season long, so did the team, and so did the players at the time BUT we won a playoff game so all of that changes and were good now"

That doesn't seem a bit silly?

Also, if this team sucks so badly, then what are your expectations of them and how on Earth is 8-4 not meeting or exceeding those expectations?



This team has a lot of holes and a lot they can improve on. I have accepted that they will not all get fixed this season. That goes for coaching which includes play calling and that goes for Mariota and the entire offense. The best we can hope for is to get completely healthy and for this offense to put it together for a few games in a row a the right time.

I always look at the positives but I dont ignore the negatives. Some of you would do some good to at least acknowledge some of the good this team has shown this season. They fight and play hard, even when it isn't working.


If we bet bounced by a lesser team, I will look at the entire picture instead of trying to find a scapegoat.

I may have repeated myself a few times but I really dont feel like editing this time. I said before the season 10-6 and playoffs. I wish we were more dominant and more competitive against the Steelers but it is what it is and right now. It its 8-4 and were headed to the playoffs. Id be foolish to not try to enjoy it out of hopes of some what if about a change next season.

Alz, lots of good stuff in here.

First off, let me say I'm a Mike Mularkey defender. He's taken this team from zero to playoffs in minimal time, changed the identity and culture of this team for the better and gets hated non stop. I think he's done a fantastic job teaching this team how to win close games and making every minute meaningful.

Second, I don't complain non stop. I simply point out deficiencies while others constantly wear their rose colored glasses, but I'm called a hater or a "fake fan" because I say truthful things about our football team like; "we aren't as good as our record would indicate."

I've said over and over, I just want this team to win, so I'm very happy with the state of the Titans from a record standpoint, but I see lots of room for improvement and want them to play better. What's wrong with that?

We have only played 1 quality opponent since the beatdown against Rookie Watson and the Texans, and that was another beatdown from the Steelers. So forgive me and others if we just don't see the Juggernaut that some others here do.

I'll be ecstatic if our Titans make the playoffs, but i'm not going to be happy with a piss poor showing, making the playoffs isn't good enough, this team has too much talent to just be satisfied with making the playoffs in an injury decimated AFC South.

 

Call out those who've said Tennessee is a juggernaut or equivalent.

I bet you'll find no one. We have the optimistic of what looks like a competitive team but certainly not dominant and we have the pessimists who just "know we're going to lose anyway".

 

even the pessimists know we have a competitive team....but we shouldn't be competitive with Tom Savage's, D'Shone Kizer's or Jacoby Brisketss teams.
