Just another reason why condensed formations suck.

The only flaws I seen in Mariota game is some of the mechanics. I think he could be better avoiding the pressure in the pockett like other mobile QBs like Wilson could.

Didn't colts do like 73 surprise onside kicks last year and everyone in the media raved about how great and fun and smart it was? What about the Saints in the Super Bowl? Funny how that works.

I've never been a fan of the "it's genius only if it works" stuff. He took a chance, so what? If it paid off, everyone would be loving it.

Just like Raiders going for 2 and the lead when the xp would secure OT and they're just fun-loving and it's great for the game and riding the momentum of their score. We do the same thing a few weeks later, and it's just irresponsible and dumb.

The result of the risk doesn't dictate rather it was a good or bad call.

We absolutely suck at onside kicks, 2 point conversions, or any other risk/reward type of scenario. If Belichick had called it, it would have been fine. But we have a lot of new pieces on defense, and starting them with their backs to the wall to begin our season just isn't worth the risk.

I see what you mean. Before Mularkey, ppl complained how "safe" and "boring" our previous coaches were.

I'm a big believer in "poor execution gets called bad play calls."

Titans call a toss on 3rd & short = dumb

Raiders call a toss on 3rd & short = they picked up the first down, nobody's complaining

The point I was trying to make was, this staff doesn't want our dual threat QB to keep plays alive or scramble around to buy to time and make a big play cause it's too risky. Instead just hurry up and get the ball out or throw it away.

All the while, they have no issue with doing other types of risk.

I'm all for seeing him scramble for a few safe yards instead of launching it into Oblivion on the sidelines because he forced a throw he wasn't comfortable with.

The toss play was stupid...I'm still annoyed by that call for so many reasons...
