Game Day Thread Preseason Game 1: Titans @ Jets

What we're looking for in preseason games isn't necessarily what the coaches are looking for.

A weak or bad play could very well have been done to see how a certain player or grouping responds - which means there might be half-assing to force a situation. In other words, it doesn't matter until regular season...

The staff may consider that game HIGHLY successful so they have a good idea on where to focus.

So... meh.

Idk man, Mularkey said it was an eye opener.

I think it was a good game for our LB and DL but that's it.

 

Like who? Logan Ryan?

The preseason is good for evaluating rookies, that's about it.

I don't think anyone could look at our roster and say it's worse than last year. It's obviously better.

They came out flat. If you want to judge the team off one pick up game, instead of 16 meaningful games last year, and seasons of history before that, I don't know what to tell you. Trust what you know about individuals than what you see in the first road game that's an exhibition.

 

The interior OL was bad too.

 

They gave up one sack, which was a miscommunication on trading off Williams.

Again, I would understand if we were trotting out a brand new unit yet again. But that same lineup went 16 games last year, grading out as a top 5 line.

It makes no sense to dismiss that over one meaningless game.

Yeah pre season means absolutely nothing. Had we blown the jets out and everyone was psyched then the nay sayers would be like... "pump the brakes it's only pre season." It'd a double edged sword...damned if you do or damned if you don't. I'll make a better judgement after the first few games of the regular season (where it actually counts *see Lions) before I jump to any conclusion.

My take is that MM wanted his starters to play just a bit then get out. Our D was not tipping their hat to nothing.
