    I have read fantasy books since I was a young child. Even now, as I get older, I still find myself enjoying the fantasy genre. Neil Gaiman has always been a top name in the fantasy world. They even named one of the highest fantasy novel awards after him, but I have never really been a fan.

    I recently started watching the Starz series American Gods and I am completely enthralled. It is a great show. I started to try reading the books based on the series but could not get into it, but I still wait for Sunday to roll around so I can watch the next episode.

    It has all the parts to be good. But it's just not.
    I blame Bryan Fuller. And @Gunny is right, peel away the visuals and the story is dead boring. You could cut in 30 minute segments of Hannibal anywhere here and most people wouldn't even bat an eye..

    I like the premise but the show is lacking. While I like some of the side stories, the main story line is moving at a snail's pace. I don't usually mind that but I find myself a little bored at times. I binge watched it but I probably would have gave up if I was tuning in weekly.

    Never have read the book so can't comment on it.

    The show is definitely heavy handed on some social/political issues. To each their own but it irks me when things are a little too on the nose.

    Seems like the critics and watchers absolutely love it. Season 2 has already been approved with more episodes and bigger budget.
