It would make an amazing franchise, not sure why a sequel never happened. It has so much potential. And with online console gaming being so big there is major potential there too.

Did you ever play the Patrician or Port Royale games? They tended to be bigger in Europe.

You build a trade empire in Northern Europe and the Caribbean, respectively, during the age of sail. They are really well done with intricate economics.

It's a pretty simple game but tons of fun. I just noticed it's $30 on steam. I'd definitely recommend waiting for a sale. I think I got it for $5-10.

The MMO hysteria was real in 2004. The only games that mattered that year were Half Life 2, Halo 2 and MMOs. I was too hip to join the very popular World of Warcraft so me and a couple of friends joined City Of Heroes.

A sense of wonder hit me the first time setting foot in Paragon City, the hub world. Filled with a dozens of characters running as fast as flash or flying as high as superman. From there the world broke out into areas for each level tier to tackle mission. You would team up to take down enemy forces in their hideouts.

Character creation was unheralded for the time. Any color scheme, any type of gear. You really could create the hero you wanted. The depth of powers you could give your hero was massive as well. Think of a marvel or DC hero and that skill set was in the game.

Not too long after City of Villiana released our crew stopped playing and our super squad disbanded. The game itself lasted until 2012 before the servers shut off for good. A solid run. The community has come together to fund a spiritual successor, City of Titan. The beta is due in 2018.

Fluorescent 80s ultra violence while on acid. That is the most concise and accurate description you will get for this game. Buzz had been growing for this game and I was without a gaming PC at the time. It finally released on PS4. I picked it up the day of release and beat it the same day.

Style. This game just oozes it. The game is colored perfect along with all the sets on display. It's not often you get people who cosplay a 2d game, but people cosplay the player character all the time. The varsity jacket, a pig or rooster mask paired with a bloody baseball bat. The music tops of the atmosphere for a perfect pairing of audio and visual. Most of the tracks have the feel of surf rock on acid being made electronically.

The gameplay is perfect. Quick twitch murder skills are needed. You are dropped off at a top down house littered with bad guys you need to eliminate. Once you enter you better clear the room quick. Any sight or sound the enemies will sprint to you guns a blazing. Oh yeah, one hit and you're dead. It's just as much as a puzzle as it is action. You use your fists, doors and weapons to weave yourself a murderous tapestry.

Highly recommend. Some of the tightest gameplay out there. Play on PC if you can. Mouse and keyboard allow you to be a much better player. Good luck on the frustration that may follow haha.
