    Hooker vs Adams

    Clark's take:

    Hooker,

Pros: Elite Center fielding FS prospect. High ceiling. Type of prospect that covers up other deficiencies on a defense. Especially a heavy man single high such as ours.

Cons: Raw, one year starter coming of two injuries. Did not participate at combine. Mystery athletic profile.

    19 games played: 49 tackles, 35 assists. 2016 season: Targets: 33, Completions 12. 4 PDs. 7 INTS. 195 yards given up.

    Adams,

Pros: Aggressive SS with some switch and man coverage ability. Reads and reacts well to the ball carrier. Many tackles for losses. Has some FS ability for joker looks which matches up well with our defense as well. Leader

Cons: Appeared that some of his INTS happened because of right place right time/bad QBing. Didn't run as fast at the combine as some expected. Pro day 40 did check out as a legit 4.45 however. -Not a huge need in our current depth chart with the addition of Cyprian.

3 year starter. 36 games played. 128 tackles, 81 assists. 18 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. 2016 season: 28 targets 8 completions. 1 PD, 1 INT. 145 yards given up.

Hooker, we already have a Jamal Adams - John Cyprien.

We need a ballhawk that frightens Luck, Bortles, etc.

And correction -it's not two injuries -it's two surgeries "to fix before they get worse"

Which I could think make him fall a tad when people seek out the comparison to Kevin Dodd.

Surprisingly I went Hooker here...I do think Adams is more complete, but I just think Hooker adds a spark and is a ball hawk that will keep QB's nervous..high upside, and if I'm going to log Jam our safety position, I want different skill sets.

So which of the "surgeries" wasn't an injury? The Torn Labrum or the Hernia?

This is the classic floor versus ceiling debate. Adams has the much lower floor. Hooker has a much higher ceiling.

But, given the odds of hooker reaching his ceiling, and the time it will take to get there, I vote Adams. Leader. Can play soon.

I feel like with hooker we would sit through the growing pains only to watch him blossom on his second deal somewhere else.
