Fwiw "Shooting" the gap is bad technique for a LB playing the run. Shuffle down, hold contain, squeeze and then tackle the runner, otherwise you're liable to be over aggressive and lose your gap. Play yourself right out of position.

Of course there is a needed balance of technique and aggressiveness...

 

Depends on the D and it's style. Some coaches only coach an ILB to attack when a LB comes for them or a FB is coming - focusing on contain to the outside and stack and shed inside. Other coaches teach them to play like a RB. Read the line/gaps and shoot thru the hole. It's riskier because if you miss and they cut back and block the backside LB, you got problems! Or cutoff the backside LB and kick out the playside OLB. Puts a lot of pressure on S's to fill and clean up. Which means you better have solid tackling S's and makes you more vulnerable to playaction.

On the other hand, playing conservative won't get you tfl's....so...risk vs reward.

 

Run blitz is a real thing... it's also scary af.

 

I actually don't have a problem with Williamson, he is decent. I made that comment though cause I rarely ever see him make any tackles behind the LoS.

 

Williamson in coverage is a liability. He had an ok season last year but he only gets that grade because he put Talib on the floor in that Bronco's game.

Coach said it was nothing, he apologized, and never had an issue his entire time there. Doesn't think it'll affect his draft spot.

 

Did Foster actually work out at his pro day? The only news from that pro day regarding him was his apology. Did he run or do any athletic stuff...bench, drills, vert, broad, blah blah blah?

 

No he's recovering from his rotator cuff surgery
