    Mariani is doing ok. We can address this in the draft when we draft a couple of very athletic CBs who can defend the pass, intercept passes, and return kicks.

    For the future I agree with you, but for the rest of this season he still has something that Mariani doesn't: THE THREAT.

    The threat to make something happen when the punter or kicker makes a mistake.

    Mariani is safe, he plays it safe, fair catches when he is suppose to and doesn't fumble. But he doesn't offer that THREAT. Teams are not afraid of him and he can't flip field position. Even at 34 years of age, Hester can still do this (even if it is only for the rest of the season).

    THE THREAT of fumbling and costing us games.

    I'm actually glad this thread was started to see how many Mariani haters would get on board with replacing him with only 3 games left and having not been one of the ST liabilities the Titans have this season. He's not great, sure. A replacement should be looked for this offseason, but as he was defended before the season started, which he has backed up almost exactly, he doesn't cost games. Not exciting, which is ok for a returner if exciting means fumbles.

    Half the time we block in the back anyway, so what's the point of getting someone faster? We are better off fair catching and at least getting the ball there. Mariani has been solid. We have bigger problems. I imagine it's addressed next year.
