How can the league shorten NFL games?

I find it hard to believe the NFL will shorten the game by showing less commercials AKA lining their pockets with less money.

They'll probably go with the less penalties BS or GPS BS. No way they're taking less money.

FTR, I think the game is fine as is

 

They just need to do advertisements like soccer games. Put them on the sides, in endzones, granted it will be tough to see with players on the sideline but no other option besides commercials.
Like others have stated, the sequence of commercial kick off commercial is hands down the most frustrating part of football. Literally 10 minutes between possessions. Stupid.

 

72 points scored in the Titans game this weekend surely contributed to its length.

 

True GPS wouldn't work but if you had a sensor of some sort on all 4 pylons and plot the field like a grid. you could have a chip in the ball and triangulate (right word?) the location of the ball on the field by measuring the distance it was from each pylon. all that information could be put into a simple program. this would also work for punts that go out of bounds as well as field goals and touchdowns.

 

Pick these guys up with injuries and take them off the field unless moving them might cause harm. You can have a cramp just as easy on the sideline.

 

I'm fine with the penalties, but cut down on the referee huddles. Call the penalty and be done with it. Also, have a centralized replay office where the play is already being reviewed before the flag comes out and make your decision there. Don't involve the on field officials in replays.
