I understand teams are willing to double a position In The 2nd-7th portion. Even in the same year. But with intent that X prospect is the LT and Y prospect is the RT...

I can't think of a situation where a team has just drafted a young promising LT - and their Qb of the future, to turn around and draft another LT without the previous dude completely falling on his face

    Especially not first overall

Packers once spent back to back 1st's on Tackles in 2010-2011

but not top 12, they picked last and 23rd for those guys

I would think that the major deciding factor in this is how Mularkey feels about Lewan. We know that he stripped him of his captain status when he took over. If Mularkey does not think that Lewan is his LT for the next 10 years then I certainly think you have to strongly consider Tunsil. If Mularkey really likes Lewan and thinks that he has the skills/leadership to be the LT for the next 10 yrs then I certainly think that you have to go Ramsey and get your QB for the defense.

yea what you're describing doesn't happen but teams do invest a bit in trying to find good Tackles. Rams just spent 5 draft picks the last 2 drafts on Tackles hoping to strike gold.

Cowboys had a good LT in the fold with Doug Free, and drafted Andre Smith #9 to be their RT, despite him being a LT in NCAA. Then Smith took over as LT in year 2.

Not the exact same, but an example of a team drafting a OT very high despite already having a good LT in the fold. Not that different from our situation, and it's worked out pretty well for Dallas.

It still comes down to you take the best player if you have the first pick.

I don't know, but I assume it hasn't happened judging by the way you're wording this.

I think it's a stretch to saw Lewan has been fine. And I'd hope we aspire to be more than just fine.

I still don't like Lewan... Hated that pick from the start. Started to like him in the offseason because he was getting us more exposure, but it turned out he was simply all talk and followed everything up with a crap season.

Derrick Mason called him out and then Lewan had the nerve to say Mason didn't know what he was talking about. Everything Mason was saying was spot on.

Lewan has been nothing but a me first guy. Hasn't shut his mouth and decided to just be a football player. He's an offensive lineman. He can't be a hotshot superstar. Until he decides to focus on being only an offensive lineman, he's never going to be worth that #11 pick.

Also in today's NFL, you pretty much need an LT on the right side too... if that makes sense.

I was pissed we didn't spend a seventh on him. Even if he goes to jail, the odds of finding a starter in the seventh are so low it's worth the risk.
