Rumor Horton "insulted" by Titans; will go to Browns

This organization is ****. ****** hires and rampant rumors

 

I would be quite happy if Ray Horton remained. Good DC and he will be a head coach one day.

 

This is definitely a mess. Regardless of how they try to spin this, Horton was most certainly disrespected. Not only was the HC search a scam, the interview process was even more pathetic.

Management doesn't grant Cleveland permission to hire Horton. They already have their minds made up on Mularkey. They give Horton a bogus interview for the HC position, knowing full-well they had no real intention of considering him for the job. So not only are they keeping him from getting the Cleveland job, they also just keep him in limbo with the false hope that he might be considered for HC. I understand that he is under contract but there also has to be some sort of simple common sense courtesy.

Horton didn't sign up to be on Mularkey's staff and shouldn't be forced to stay on when he has another opportunity to go elsewhere where he is coveted. Again, I know he's under contract with us and he is legally bound to that contract. That said though, show the man some respect and let him leave. If Mularkey is as great of a choice for HC then he should have no problem replacing Horton.

Now that he's gone, maybe it's time to bring back Jim Schwartz

 

Yeah, but sounds like Horton may not want Cleveland as much as Cleveland wants Horton. He says he s talking extension with Titans.

Just read on PFT that Horton called them and stated that he has not asked for his release from his contract.

 

Where'd you see this? I'm all for keeping him on actually, I like him. I just personally feel like it was all kinds of shady how the process played out. Looks a lot like he wasn't taken seriously considering they gave the job to Mularkey so quickly after they interviewed Horton. They interviewed him already knowing that their minds were made up.

No exaggeration, I'd call Jerry Gray and Chuck Cecil before I would even think about thinking about calling Schwartz up.
