I would buy a PC and probably a new TV. Then i would hire 24 hour mercenary's to protect me from the incoming onslaught of filth who want my money.

I remember an Australian syndicate winning a lottery in the USA, decades ago, and they were PO'd about the taxes being taken out of the winnings. Cause in Australia you pay the taxes when you buy your ticket.

In the USA the taxman most definatly double dips as you pay school taxes when you buy and income taxes if you win

Yeah, but I actually saw an article yesterday making this same mistake, so I will cut him some slack on that LOL...

$1.5 B? I would be a boring person with it. I would take about $50M of it and buy additional houses (in places not cold, and in Nashville) and other toys. The rest of it I would put into diverse investments, one of which being farmland in the midwest. Not sexy, but very stable income from a cash rent perspective. Then I would live off of that income.

I would quit the job, but continue working independently. Stopping one's work career is the quickest way to ensure that you die prematurely IMO....

Actually I heard a pretty wise comment about this whole process a long time ago....a big part of the fun of the lottery is just thinking about what one would do with the winnings.
