The greatest rock star of all time has died of cancer at age 69.

Around 20 truly great albums over almost 50 years and numerous changes in musical style there is hardly anybody who can touch the man. He made incredible music after the age of 40 when many rock stars are burned out or dead.

In addition to his own super star career he produced and contributed as a writer on Iggy Pop's 2 most successful albums. He also produced Lou Reed's most successful album and wrote Mott the Hoople's biggest hit song.

    He's a love/hate rocker.

I do respect him, though... he took chances, some did well and some were... weird.

    Regardless, terrible news...

Now 2 of some of the best rockers have left this world:

Its naturally massive news over here in the UK. Bowie , for people of a certain age like myself , influenced so many bands and artists through what he innovated in the 70's and 80's.

If you read some of the lyrics and listen to some of his new album , the signposts are there that with it , he is saying goodbye. However , nobody even twigged that this was his death , in art. He was still , right until the end , ahead of the game.

    A true original.

He was always years ahead of everyone else. He will be missed, but glad to have Blackstar as a parting gift. This and Chris Squire were blows to my musical sensibilities.
