Actually, the real epiphany for me that video games can be art is Shadow of the Colossus.

I was thinking, I know peeps that are still playing Diablo 2 and think they could give the Star Craft players a run for their money.

Some people complained that the campaign for Wings of Liberty was almost entirely Terran and the Heart of the Swarm campaign is Zerg. You have to get Legacy of the void for a full Protoss campaign.

I don't mind it because i'm a Protoss player and almost always play Protoss in skirmishes and multiplayer. Playing a Terran and Zerg campaign gives me experience with them that i need.

My initial goal to is to reach a 100 rating with Protoss and a 50 rating combined for the other 2 races. You have to to know the units and the tech tree as well as strategies when you play against them.

I have always loved RTSs. I played the hell out of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 as a kid and enjoy it even now with the new remastered version.

The Battle Zone RTS by Activision was also amazing for it's day. I must have spent at least a year of my life playing that game.

The Lord of the Rings game was pretty cool.. felt like they could have done more with it but what else do you expect from a game based on a film.

Sins of a Solar Empire is great! I still play that game.. a huge downside to the game is that it doesnt support multi threading (seriously, Stardock?). So unless you just have a blazing fast core speed, the game essentially doesn't support the amount of action you can actually get into.

Those games Homeworld and Sins of a solar empire(Why didn't they just call it solar empire?) are what i have avoided as an RTS fan and i would love to try one of them. People that took the time to learn Homeworld totally loved it.

How many hours would you say it takes to be fairly proficient at Homeworld? It's obviously different from what i'm used to.

I love the art of videos games. Homeworld from what i have seen of it is a true work of art though players complain the story in Homeworld 2 is not as good as the original.

Starcraft 2 is an artistic masterpiece with a great story, incredible visuals and great music. The story art is spectacular at times.

All the air units for the Protoss are breath taking.

Starcraft 2 also has tons of little built in incentives. With 4 difficulty levels in the the campaigns you can play for months to get through them all. You earn experience points every game win or lose and there are decals and skins that make your army look unique.

Homeworld is a lot easier to get started in than sins.. Once you get going, youll find that its all about making a decision about what you want to be at the core of your fleet and then gear ypur build/research order to that end.

The most common mistake newbies make is trying to build everything at once. Even if your resources dont dry up first (dont worry, they will) you will likely be attacked and wiped out before you can complete a stable fleet that includes all ships.

Its a great game and highly addictive. The remastered editions are beautiful. The campaign is pretty good.
