We're a looong ways away from when we must have our official 53 man roster (normally in 2nd/3rd week of August). However, free agency and the draft are over, so it's safe to say no more dramatic moves will happen to our roster. Even though there are a couple free agents still available i'd love (Barksdale, Brandon Spikes, Red Bryant).

Also, there's always the potential of decent players getting cut due to salary reasons, etc. James Jones got released & rumors of Brandon Carr's eventual release are out there. Could be a few serviceable players who get cut come August. Regardless, here's how I see our current 53 man squad:

QB: Marcus Mariota, Zach Mettenberger, and Charlie Whitehurst
RB: Bishop Sankey, David Cobb, and Dexter McCluster
    FB: Jalston Fowler
WR: Dorial Green-Beckham, Kendall Wright, Harry Douglas, Justin Hunter, Hakeem Nicks, and Tre McBride
TE: Delaine Walker, Anthony Fasano, and Taylor Thompson
OT: Taylor Lewan, Jeremiah Poutasi, Byron Bell, and Byron Stingily
OG: Chance Warmack, Andy Levitre, and Josue Matias
C: Brian Schwenke and Andy Gallik

DE: Jurrell Casey, Ropati Pitoitua, Mike Martin, Angelo Blackson, and Karl Klug
NT: Sammie Lee Hill and DaQuan Jones
OLB: Brian Orakpo, Derrick Morgan, Kamerion Wimbley, Jonathan Massaquoi, and Deiontrez Mount
ILB: Avery Williamson, Zach Brown, Wesley Woodyard, & Zaviar Gooden
CB: Jason McCourty, Perrish Cox, Marqueston Huff, Coty Sensabaugh, and Blidi Wreh-Wilson
FS: Michael Griffin & Cody Prewitt
SS: Da'Norris Searcy & Daimion Stafford

    K: Ryan Succop
    P: Brett Kern
    LS: Beau Brinkley

    red = free agent addition
    blue = draft addition

After draft and free agency, i'm pretty happy with what Ruston, Whiz, and Co decided to do this off-season. Although, DGB and Mariota are risky, they ATLEAST give us something worth watching. I'm just worried our 31st ranked run-d didn't approve much. Although we were without ZB for 15 games, Williamson only started 12 games, & Pito was banged up all year. Not to mention, it was year 1 of the 4-3 to 3-4 switch. WR/CB/RT will be interesting battles this offseason.

Expecting DGB to immediately be the #1 WR is probably a bit extreme.

He's very raw. I don't hate him like DW does, but I'm not going to expect too much out of him as a rookie.

Im giving him 6 or 7 games before I turn his way, really thinking he'll need half the season to find his grove

I think at best, he'd have a Martavis Bryant type of production as a rookie.

Limited snaps, but big time plays here and there.

    Just some quick takes:

-We upgraded at 5 starter spots (regardless if you have DGB as our 1 or 2)

-Our run game looks much improved with a couple power runners and a mauler at RT.

-We're really banking on a healthy Zach Brown and Pitoitua to help in the run game. Awful last year, not sure how much it can realistically be improved with the same players.

-One injury to one of our starting CBs and we're in major trouble. Really surprised we didn't try to add more depth in the draft. Must really like BWW and Huff?

-This is not a 2-14 team on paper, if they can manage to stay healthy this year we should see a lot of progress and give us a more accurate read on what we need next off season. Hopefully we'll be gearing towards a playoff push this time next year.

    I struggled with DL

Jurrell Casey, Ropati Pitoitua, Sammie Hill, Karl Klug, Al Woods, Mike Martin, DaQuan Jones, & Angelo Blackson

So, I think 1 of Klug, Woods, or Martin will get cut.

    CB is tricky too.

I'm excited about that. Yes, we added DGB/Mariota to help the pass attack, but don't sleep on the additions of Fowler and Cobb. Hopefully we can pound it up the middle and tire up the defense.

This scares me. Hopefully Angelo Blackson can have some type of impact year 1. Also, really need DaQuan Jones to step it up. After we drafted Blackson, Whiz said this selection allows Jones to play at NT. Likely, Hills backup?

I'm a big fan of Huff. I think he'll end up our starting NB.

I'd rather have DGB in there getting snaps than Nicks, Douglas, or Hunter

Here's what the rookie WR class did last year:

I'm hoping he puts up somewhere near Jordan Matthews stats: 800-100 yards, 6-9 TDs.

Think we keep Craig Stevens over TT.
