NFL Showdown Anyone else tried this out yet? I am pretty much hooked. Basically start with your favorite team, and get thrown into a league. Once a day you have a scheduled game at a certain time against one of the other teams(a real person). You spend your time leading up to games training your players, organizing the depth chart, and acquiring free agents if you have the funds. Your players all have individual energy and confidence bars that you have to pay attention to and you can throttle how intense their practices are so they are less likely to be injured. Because you have a game every day, each season lasts 21 days, 17 regular games and 4 playoff games(if you make it). If you make it to the playoffs, next season you bump up a tier in league difficulty. I am currently in the AFC Championship of level 1 and my opponent is far weaker than me so I should easily win and go to the SB, it was pretty easy to get to this point and I got thrown in on week 14 or so, in the first tier a lot of people stop playing because they sign up just to try it out and never play again, I don't expect the higher tiers to be like that. The game is pretty new so I imagine more features will be added relatively quickly, Zynga is usually pretty good about upgrades to their games and they must have paid for the NFL licensing so they won't just give up on this game anytime soon. I encourage you all to try it out if you haven't already. It's available for iPhone/Android/MSFT. Like I said, it's pretty addicting but there's only so much you can really do at a time so you won't burn hours and hours playing.
Okay I lied apparently this has been out since September, but nonetheless, good game. Wonder when they will add this years rookies, and how they will add them since there is no yearly draft within the game.
All games have in-app purchases. How else would they make money? Can't expect them to do it for free.
I NEVER pay out for those kinds of games and do just fine. There was a good south park episode on this
There are a lot of great games that aren't pay to win. Minecraft XMen Days of Future Past GTA San Andreas GTA Chinatown Wars GTA Vice City The Kingdom Rush games Scribblenauts Terraria The Room and Room 2 Limbo Lego Marvel Universe Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Virtua Tennis I love playing games on my phone. Kills time on the toilet.
For games that I play frequently I usually buy the intro-package, in the case of this game it was like 99 cents. Never more than the intro package though. I enjoy actually earning my way through, but I used to be a web developer myself so I also like to support the creator...
I've been playing Showdown for quite a while. You don't have to pay a dime if you don't want to. I've not and have done a dozens seasons now. It's fun but the game is lacking in many ways. I've lost many auctions due to the thing just glitching out. You can scout other teams but there's no way of knowing how much that actually helps when you play those teams. Who wins games seems somewhat random sometimes. I've lost against teams I've out-ranked by quite a bit making me think some of it is rigged. The most frustrating part of the game is that players often get injured during practice and miss multiple days. Sure, players can get hurt but it seems pretty unrealistic that a player would get a head injury during practice.
I like the free agency auction system myself, although I've never had it glitch out like you have said. I'm sure it will happen at some point and I'll be pissed but for now all is good. I've wondered how much the scouting and being online for the actual games helps.. it does seem very random but if it went solely off team rank that would be pretty upsetting as well. The injury part of the game just makes it so you need depth I have no problems with it, but it is annoying when you put them on medium/low intensity and they still get injured for a few games.
