PROVE IT? Prove he isn't a deep threat being used incorrectly. Works both ways:)

A lot of coaches...and Whiz fits this to a tee...see a 5'10 WR sub-200lbs and see a slot guy. The Pats and Packers see a guy like Wright and salivate! Wright is not asked to run the same routes as Nate Washington (nor Hunter) nor Cobb. He's asked to run a lot of 3 yd crossing routes, wr screens, slants, a few 8yd comebacks and the occasional 15yd dig. And if he's so slow, how is he getting away from NFL corners on a crossing route if he's only as slow as a TE?

And speed isn't the end all be all of being a deep threat. I think you'd be hard pressed to convince me that Dez Bryant isn't a deep threat and he ran a 4.52 at his pro day compared to Wright's 4.41?

I would suggest in a better system ala Baylor, he had a 15+yd avg per catch his last year there so can he really be that slow? I mean, the combine is suggesting he's as slow as a TE. And most reports suggest his hand moved on one of his runs to give him a slow time while his other was sub-4.5. He also ran 2 40's in the 4.4's so what more do you want? If you're still not convinced, go watch some tape of him at Baylor his last year and you will see him run by people and go deep.

I really don't care that he was able to run by some scrub CBs in college.

I just find it hard to believe that going through 3 different OCs and 2 coaches in the pros that none of them were able to see that he actually is a great deep threat and keep miss casting him as a slot guy. If he were such a deep threat then he would have shown it at some point (practice/games) and brought it to the attention of the coaches. The coaches want to win games. They are dying to have playmakers on their team. Yet you say that they are all missing Wright's deep threat ability. Just doesn't make sense now does it.

I think it is much more realistic to think that Wright is a very quick WR who isn't very fast. Thus he is able to create separation in short areas. He has shown this to be true.

I like Wright and think that every team needs a solid slot WR. I just think that Cobb has shown to be more than just a slot WR.

Either way I really don't think that we need to be paying a WR 10mil a year which is what Cobb is going to be asking.

We need to wait until the prices drop on the FA WRs and grab one and then also look to draft another WR.

Draft offers a few NFL starters, 2nd round would net us a great WR. Free agency offers little in that department.

I honestly see us going after a guy like Eddie Royal who has played under Whiz when he was with the Bolts. Royal has scored 15TDs and had over 100 catches combined through the past 2 seasons. He would be the replacement for Washington.

Eddie Royal is on and off, we'd likely end up with the 3 catch 30-yards Royal.

I wouldn't hate the addition, but its hardly one Id cheer over.

I agree. Not a guy I'd be pumped over. What we really need is for the 2 highly drafted WRs on our roster to play to the level of their draft position.

I don't want to spend another high draft pick on a WR and I just don't see a stud FA WR coming to the Titans with the QB uncertainty that we have.

I wouldn't mind investing a 2nd or 3rd into a WR, if you want 3 NFL caliber guys youre going to have to either pay them or use top picks getting them. WR absolutely as a whole is in shambles, gotta do something..

Wright can be a deep threat and play outside. He was pigeon-holed into a slot the day he was drafted and hasn't been given a legit shot to prove he can beat people deep. a 4.4 40 says he's fast enough to beat a lot of CBs deep.

I like Wright but the kid can't run 10-feet without falling down.

Somebody make a gif of him slipping on a banana peel from mario kart.

I'd love that too, but we just don't have the picks to use 2 early picks on a WR. If we traded out of #2 and picked up more picks OR have a great free agency period, than maybe. However, we must find an OLB (maybe 2), LG, and RT before WR IMO. If we stay at #2, i'd have no problem using #33 on a WR. I still think with an improved OL, Mett will play better, which means more chances for Wright, Hunter, and Walker. Add in a WR at #33 and we could be set.
