This is starting to sound like the backup QB is the most popular guy with the crowd....til he actually comes in and plays!!!

Pollard has many great qualities. He is a vet, he's been on SB teams so he knows what it takes, he's a hard hitter and an above average tackler. Oh, and a leader on this team! Unfortunately, he's really an in the box SS because of his lack of speed/quickness. He has great instincts and very high effort to be so productive. Even with his lesser athleticism, he outperformed griffin last year both against the run AND against the pass!

Now he's not super human and he will miss a tackle here and there, but he's about as reliable a tackler as we have on defense in the back 7. With that said, he's weakest in the open field with quick/speed guys like Hester. In fairness, he absolutely should have made the tackle on JJ. But with McCoruty basically falling down and Hester in stride, there is no way BP can make that play. He broke down early to try and get Hester to slow down...hoping for McCourty or someone to cut down the angle, but Hester had too much open field. If he runs up on him, Hester just makes one cut and is gone. That's what you call hanging a player out to dry...

It's funny, I see no mention of the positive plays Pollard has made. And if you're talking about Stafford being better, you need to re-watch the tape. Stafford blew 2 huge tackles in 1 game. And they were against 2-4th string players...in preseason. JJ is one of the best WR's in the NFL. I like Stafford's improvement and he can lay someone out, but he whiffs a lot more than BP does. He needs to learn how to break down better!

And JWILL, I don't blame Griffin for JJ's big gain, but he DID take a poor angle and should have stopped the TD. Griff took 2-3 steps towards JJ before changing his angle and he missed stopping him by half a step. That's the difference between an average D and a great one! My HS team won a huge game (a long time ago) because we drilled them over and over to take the right angles because we were playing a team with a record setting RB. Sure enough, the RB got free to the outside on a toss sweep and ran about 75 yds down the field. But our backside CB did an amazing job. He took the proper angle and hustled about 80+ yds to catch the RB at the 5yd line. Our D held and we won the game because a single player did his job, took the right angle and hustled his tail off! I expect as much from NFL players!!!

Between McCourty, Sensabaugh, Griffin and Pollard...our starting secondary either blew the coverage, the tackle or the angle to make the tackle in the falcons game giving up 14 pts. That can't happen!

Talk about Pollard all you want, but he's the least of our problems in poor tackling even though he's had a few misses in pre-season. Most of the guys on our starting D have more misses then they should!!!

If Pollard truly is the least of this defense's problems, this is going to be a very, very bad defense.

Did you see Casey's newest interview? He said we're a top 5 defense, I tend to listen to that guy when he starts talking.

He doesn't talk often, so when he does I'll listen and give them the benefit of the doubt. Thing to keep in mind though, everyone thinks they're a top unit before the season starts. Just hope they back their words up.

Oh I'm not doubting him, he's one that I will take his word for. I don't watch interviews, so I rarely hear what players actualy say and whether or not they deliver. Except for :cj:, I always heard him spout off but I wouldn't say that's a good thing lol.

Listening to players when they talk about how great they're going to be is stupid. Did years of CJ boasts not teach you anything?

    Never listen to players.

lmao. I don't know why you guys are worried about Pollard. He has made some good tackles this pre-season. I'm more worried about our pash rush and corners. That is the weakest part of this defense.
