Players get compared to the 'greats' all of the time, by fans, players and experts. But that should not be interpretted as the one saying it thinks they will have the same or better career. The reason we choose 'greats' to compare players too is because everyone knows who they are. I'm sure there is a much more apt comparison out there that very few people would have heard of. But if no one has heard of that person, then what is the point of the comparison.

I don't think anyone thinks Hunter will have a HoF career like Moss (would be nice though lol). But, you can still share a lot similar traits to them. They can have similar physical attributes, and even similar playing styles but not have the same type of production over their careers. Anyone that thinks Preston is saying "hunter is the next Moss" is interpretting that wrong. I don't think any poster on here feels that way either. Doesn't mean you can't compare them though.

Rod Smith (old Bronco's WR) was the reason we drafted Kenny Britt. **** Rod Smith

Just because people compare unproven people to greats doesn't make it any more valid. The point that is being made is that its all HYPE to compare somebody based of off POTENTIAL. Hunter hasn't done chit and comparing to Moss just because he resembles him physically is nothing more than BS Hype. Some of us, myself included, are tired of the BS "potential" hype that we hear every GD year about our projects. The hype rings hollow.

I suspect there are a lot of Hunter fans already because they wear orange on Saturdays. And there is nothing wrong with that unless it is effecting their perception of him when comparing him to a PROVEN prolific NFL receiver.

If you notice during the NFL draft process (particularly the combine) a lot of prospects who by definition haven't done jack sh*t in the NFL get compared to pro, sometimes all pro players. When you think of a freakishly tall, fast, athletic receiver, Moss is the first guy that comes to mind because he was so amazing so naturally every guy with a similar skill set will be compared to him because he is the standard.

Haven't you noticed that every smallish, white receiver gets a Welker comparison? Do you think people are saying the prospect will be as good as Welker or are they just projecting that the guy will play a similar role due to his apparent skill set? Hunter's comparison is just a projection based on what is perceived to be his potential due to his skill set and the limited action we saw him in. No one is saying he will be the next Randy Moss only that he has a chance to be a comparable player.

Lots of guys have been compared to Randy for similar reasons and the vast majority didn't amount to much. Hunter could be just another one of those guys or he can be something else, we just don't know yet. What I'm basically saying is you're getting upset over something that no one is saying.

You know, I for some silly reason was under the impression that Preston was here with Moss in 2010 (which if true would have made the comparison somewhat valid) but Preston wasn't here til 2011.

Hunter's predraft comparison was Roy Williams (1310-yards 7TD's) (career best)

Pre-draft is the time to project "potential" because that is part of the selection process that fans can relate to. If Hunter had come in last year and lit it up, I'd be all on board for saying there is something tangible about a comparison to Moss. Moss lit it up his rookie year. Hunter didn't do chit. The comparison is therefore invalid IMO.

I hope Hunter kills this year. I hope he outdoes Moss over his career. I'm just not into BS Hype which is what I'm hearing about Hunter and this issue. I'm really not upset over the issue, just think is BS rhetoric hype to get folks excited. I need more than that.

Chris Henry, Tyrone Calico, Ben Troupe, et al had flashes of greatness. And Hunter got away with a push off on his best catch and honestly, I can't think of another episode of "greatness".
