Thing is, you don't have to live in Nashville to, well, be a Nashvillian.

I was a Rutherford County guy forever... then lived in Antioch for a few years.

Me and my family have been pretty blessed to live in a good neighborhood here that has low crime but that has been slowly changing and not in a good way. Me and my wife biggest concern is schooling for my soon to be ten year old daughter and nine year old son. The schools here are pretty bad gangwise and thats our biggest issue. I also want to be closer to Nashville so we can attend more games as well. I'll be forty early next year and i feel like i need a change as well. I'm cool with being outside of Nashville. I do want to live in the vicinity like no more than an hour away at the most if possible. Are there any good places within an hour or so of there? Thanks i appreciate the feedback.;)

Haven't been back in a while, but Rutherford County was always nice.

Probably 30 minutes from Nashville, depending on where you are in the county and what part of Nashville you want to go to.

$700 rent? Must be nice being in TN.

Good luck with your search, good man for looking out for the kids, funny no one moves to Memphis.

I've always said if West Tennessee was claimed by Arkansas... most would shrug and say, "ok"

Some places within an hour of Nashville have already been mentioned.... Murfreesboro, Antioch, Mt. Juliet, etc. Another area not yet mentioned is Spring Hill/Columbia. That's where I live. Spring Hill is going to be slightly more expensive and a few mins closer to Nashville. Spring Hill is generally nicer as well but Columbia has areas just as nice, but also some ghetto. You'll get more bang for your buck in Columbia and still be within an hour of Nashville.

Really, you have a lot of options. I'd recommend just taking a weekend if possible and driving around to check out all the different areas. Because they are all quite different in their own ways.

What makes Memphis so bad these days? I used to live there in the late 80's, then we moved away but I did come back to visit my dad every summer.
