What I remember is Webster saying there was a trade on the table but it fell thru in the last minute.

This is Webster (via Kuharsky) saying the Browns made no offer for No. 11:

Webster: You have a plan for staying there in the first round. Expected more action at 11. No offer from CLE. Nothing materialized. #Titan

What Loggains is saying seems to strongly suggest they did make an offer. Either way, there was interest. Would have been nice to slide down in the draft and not take a 3rd OT so damn high.

Saying "nothing materialized" means there was dialogue.

This doesn't necessarily make him a liar. But I guess you can interpret in a negative way if you want to... or maybe he just meant to say no "agreeable"/ "realistic" offer came from the Browns. From the very second the pick was announced it was very clear that we almost traded with them. Why would he lie about this? It is all completely irrelevant at this point anyway.

    "No offer."

That's clearly the far more relevant quote.

One side is lying here. Either they talked about the parameters of a trade or they didn't. My guess is Webster asked for too much for No. 11 and Cleveland bailed. Now Webster is trying to cover his ass by downplaying talks.

It's water under the bridge. Would have been nice to trade down from No. 11, though, especially with how uninspiring the Lewan pick was. I think the Titans wanted Barr/Gilbert and panicked when both were gone by 11.

Well Im trusting my eyes and ears on this one. Webster said there was talks but we couldn't get it done. So to me thats what happened.

The fact that he felt the need to comment somewhat extensively about it means that it is relevant.

It will become very relevant if Lewan either becomes one of the top Ts in the game, or is a total bust. Our draft would look a lot different if the Titans would not have fumbled a potential trade.. which they did.. or they would not have been scrambling with a few seconds left to get the pick in.

It could work out in their favor, or could be a nightmare. One bad draft can really hurt a franchise.
