If the contract was set up in our favor, then I guess I wouldn't mind it. But he would need to have played out of his mind for a full season for me to be okay with a deal.

We just better make sure we have a formidable backup if that's the plan. I would hate to keep Whitehurst as the backup. I'm all for "having faith in Locker," but rolling with Clipboard Jesus as the backup is essentially having blind faith in Locker. Need to be better prepared than that. It was different for the Chargers considering Rivers has never missed a game (to my knowledge).

This is true but it would be nice to have that quality backup if this season happens to mirror the previous two.

Think about it guys...What high priced coach with a decent reputation wants to start his time with a new franchise with A) A QB that is constantly injured and 3 years unproven and B) A backup that has very little starting time and arguably not as good as Fitz who was cut. Just think about it, he is too smart for that and it doesn't make sense, unless he simply WANTS to tank the season for a higher draft pick next year. They are taking a QB if they like someone there, plain and simple.

This bs talk is all "Nicey Nicey" to make Jake feel loved and hoping he improves, while currently shopping for you potential future franchise QB in the background while NOT making waves. Coach talk...Simply put

I hadn't even thought of that as an option.

The issue here is tagging a QB is very expensive. He'd probably get around $18mil in 2015. Then imagine if he pulled it off again - we're talking about having to give him top 10 QB money at the very least. $15mil a year at the minimum.

I guess he'd be worth it IF he completes two full seasons (and is a top 10 QB during that stretch), but we all know this is highly unlikely. I just hate those QB deals. It's fine for truly elite QBs like Rodgers, Brady, Peyton, Brees... but when you're having to pay Flacco, Romo, and Cutler $18-20mil a year sh*t is outta control. And I'm afraid that a healthy Locker compares to those QBs and would not be worth top dollar.

I just don't see any of this happening anyways. Not many of us do. I can't help but think he'll be hurt by week 4 or 5 again.

I'd rather have a crappy backup this season. If Locker fails, I want the Titans to finish last and get the No. 1 pick.

Do we really want to take a rapist #1 overall though?

True. But like I said, you have to play if you want to win. I get that the chances are slim. But the one way to absolutely guarantee you do not get one of those "1-2 good QBs" is to not draft one.

Yes, it's a total crapshoot. And the opposite of what I said could end up being the case (i.e. we draft a QB at 11, he busts too, and one of the guys we could have had in 2015 goes on to great things). But I'm honestly just sick of always waiting around for our franchise QB to show up. I'm convinced Jake is not that guy so in my mind the sooner we make other arrangements the better. I don't want to delay drafting a replacement another year. Then have to wait yet another year for that rookie to take his bumps and adjust to the NFL.

I just want to win. And you need a good QB who can actually stay healthy to do that on a consistent basis.

I don't want us to suck and get 1st pick next year...Who the F wants that?!?!?! I want them to work towards being good instantly, not taking a year off in hopes that a high pick pans out. How many #1 Qb's have we seen bust in the past?! Exactly......
